I see this very much as Whill does, and I think the -1D is the easiest, quickest way to handle it.

It's honestly never come up in my games, but I've added it to a list of things I'd like to have ready, just in case it ever comes up.

One benefit I can see from firing two shots at once (using both hands, which I as well would cause the character to suffer a MAP as well as an additional -1D for the off-hand) would be that I'd allow them to both be fired instantly. In other words, if they fired twice with the same hand, they'd have to wait (on the second shot) until their next action (which could have a dozen people go in-between), but if they fired both at the same time, I'd have both actions (of all four, if Whill's four-handed character was firing four guns!) strike at the same time, potentially doing a bunch of damage all at once.

For a 4 armed race (Pho-phinian) i would see them getting greater than jsut a -1d off hand penalty, i would see them being -1d off, -2d the other 2 hands.. Though the rules for that race as it stands gives them a 'free' action (can do 2 things no maps) due to their having 4 arms.

I don't think I'd ever heard of the Pho Ph'eahians before. Would be pretty cool to make a Sith wielding four lightsabers, actually! Twisted Evil

The only way that could make any sense to me is with the limitation of the multiple shots in the same action slot of time must fire at the same target, as your comment about damage suggests. But if I were going to do that, I would probably want to make it be some sort of combined action instead of considering it two separate shots. I'd also consider making it available only to those with ambidexterity because it seems like it may be difficult to coordinate your off hand with your primary hand, and if it were that easy (only an offhand penalty of the offhand shot plus the MAP for both), then you'd think you'd see it happen from highly skilled characters in Star Wars.

This would seem to bring an unwanted level of consideration and complexity into this for what it is worth to me, so it's a lot simpler to just not have simultaneous actions in the same time slot. It seems like something that could unbalance the game like Haste so I'll think I'll just pass. But if it works for you and your game, then more power to you.

Actually I'd be really hesitamt to do it, too. In the supers game I've been running for a long time, we discovered over three decades ago (back in high school) how multiple attacks could be overpowered. To be fair to that game system, it's an optional rule mentioned in the rulebook that a GM should be cautious with it, and since way back then it's not somthing I'd allow.

For Star Wars, I've not allowed it yet, but I could see a really powerful, cool character doing something like this. To me, that fits with what we see in the films (both with Jango Fett and General Grievous). I completely agree, though, that it should be quite rare.
