1329 posts in 2 years for me. That means, assuming I keep posting at the same rate, I should pass 10k posts in about 13 more years.... _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

The journey to 10,000 posts is taken one post at a time. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Hey, g, 15 posts to go. Make sure and let us know when you hit 11,929 and pass up Hellcat. |
Not that post count matters too much, but it will be a little nice when the user with the most posts here is an active user. Sadly, Hellcat hasn't posted in over 4 years. _________________ *

It's a fun way to pass the time. I'm somewhat bemused - and slightly amazed - at my own longevity, though. I wasn't really following the PbP games; did they just fade out due to a lack of interest, or did they go on hiatus and just never come back? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Is PbP dead?
From reading the php games here, they were mostly one-by-one abandoned by the GMs who just stopped posting. So pbp just faded away. Of course it is not only GMs. Players abandon games too, but a GM should be the one to officially call it that the game is over.
This abandonment comes across to me as extremely rude. Even if someone lost internet service in their home, they should at least go to the library, log in here one last time, and announce they can't continue with the game. I'd feel a little better about the pbp graveyard at the bottom of this forum if the GMs just had the common courtesy to formally end the games. Some of the php games have players checking back in saying, "Hello? Is anyone else here?" It's depressing. I'd feel best about the pbp graveyard if people would actually use it and start up a new php game.
As far as why people abandon pbps, I don't know why. In my life, I've played in two pbp games, both at WEG Fan Forums/WEG Fansite (D6 Online). One was Star Wars D6 and the other was a Firefly universe game ran with D6 Space. The GM of the Star Wars game was the original site owner and he ended the game before he sold the site and left it. It was meh. The Firefly game was a group of original characters in a sequel to the Serenity film. The story was quite good and the GM was fantastic, but I quit that game largely because of realizing that I hated playing an RPG by post. (Thankfully the GM didn't hold against me and we are still friends.) The GM wrote my character out of the story and it kept going for a while before it ended for reasons I don't remember. But both of these games were officially ended by the GMs, not just abandoned like most of the games here.
I know why I personally don't like playing pbp games, but I have nothing against other people playing them and this site is available for them. Some people may have abandoned games because they found they didn't like pbp, but for the most part it seems that they were all ok with the format and the games all just died off. _________________ *

I think we’re all just glad you’re back and doing okay. | Thanks. Good to be back.
Got a game going every second Thursday and I'm going for grand epic AU with Luke and Anakin Skywalker creating the Jedi Protectorate out of seized Hutt Space with Mandalorian support.
It's, quite the story. And lets the PCs be the major heroes rather than "this is what 'Those Other Guys' are doing while the movie heroes are being epic." |

Thank you very much. Any player should be lucky to have such a GM. |

And that day was today. Glad to see that the top total poster is someone active. Thank you for all your content, garhkal. You're still my favorite evil GM. |
LOL. "any day now" turns out to mean "one day short of exactly one year." _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Nah, he's Lawful Evil. Look how bent out of shape he gets at the suggestion of altering the RAW. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Yup. Good ole LE for the win..
Though when you look at my kill history of characters its NOT that much, when you compare it to many other DMs i have met here and over on Dragonsfoot.... So i can't understand why i keep getting called a killer DM. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Yeah, you kill a few PCs here and a few PCs there, and then you tend to lose track of all the people you pissed off or killed...and before you know it, you get a rep for being a killer DM. Who knew? _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

I;ve known 2 other GMs who like me, are called Killer GMs by players. ALL because they WILL allow a PC to die, if the situation calls for it, NOT because they've actually killed one, just because they WILL, when it comes up... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
