After posting the above I read this in the description for the ILF-5000 Lifeform Scanner(Galladrium p 55): "A sensors roll is required to use the device; the difficulty depends upon the conditions as described in the sensors rules in
the Star Wars Adventure Journal."

Sooo, anyone know what rules these are? What journal is this? Isnt there several?

Yeah, there were quite a few of them.
According to the description in Galladinium. the one referred to is Star Wars Adventure Journal #4, pages 260-264.

I don't have that Issue, but have checked "The best of the Star Wars Adventure Journal Issues 1-4", and it's not in there, as far as I can see.
