IMO that was similar to what Ben did when he ;died; on the DS.. she seperated her soul/force presence and binded it to the Eye.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

mehhhhh.. not quite, I would say. Becoming one with the Force and appearing later as a Force Spirit is quite different from shedding your physical form and installing your spirit in a starship's systems, and then later "reincarnating" into the body of someone who has just died. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Hmm...it's been a long time since I've read it. It wasn't great, but it was nowhere near as bad as The Crystal Star. _________________ Arek | Kage |

SPOILER ALERT! Highlight the area below to find out why I hated the book so much.
Okay, a ship, the Eye of Palpatine has been operating since the end of the clone wars. Two operatives were dispatched to disable it. One of them, a Jedi, shut down the ship by shedding her mortal shell and put her life essence (or Cartesian ego, or whatever you want to call it) inside the ship. She's been trying to keep it at bay the last few decades. Now the ship has (for reasons that will not be mentioned) gone active and started to brainwash Gamoreans, Jawas, Sandpeople, and all sorts of other folks and turned them into Imperial troops to function on the ship. It's botched the job, but that's not really the point.
So, Luke is in this superweapon ship and is trying to shut it down for good. He meets this disembodied Jedi intelligence. After falling in love with her through computer screen interactions, she (through the Force, mind you) transfers her mind/life essence/Cartesian Ego/whatever into a corporeal host. But for some reason, after just transferring her life essence through the Force, she cannot use the Force any longer.
Top that off with a Han/Leia/Chewie/R2 subplot that I wasn't thrilled with and the whole thing just irritated me.
And that's why I didn't like the book.
I will say that the author did one thing really well. Luke was badly injured during the book, and he needed to use the Force to stay functioning (or even conscious). Having a handicapped Luke heightened the tension, and made the plot a bit more interesting. |

White text .The fact that she could no longer touch the Force was one of the few aspects that I actually liked. Made her kinda interesting. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

I'll agree that the concept is interesting. That sort of thing could make for some fascinating internal struggle and character development. But the entire context just strikes me as silly. |
