I read in my local paper that Episode 4, 5, and 6 are coming to DVD soon, with a possible making of DVD. But these will be special editions, and not the orignials, how does everyone feel about that? |

Me and my group like the Special Edition alot.
Their only complaint is "Greedo Shot First, AND MISSED!!!".
Me, I'm of the mind that Greedo was attempting to intimidate Han Solo, and put a Blaster Bolt next to his head to get him to cough up the money...
It didn't work. |

I love the Special Edition. I think they add some wonderful stuff to the series, but I do have some gripes.
Just like the rest of you guys, Greedo shooting first at Han is a joke. It takes away from the coolness factor of Han, if you ask me. I've always thought that Han taking Greedo out first was a great anti-hero thing to do, in the special edition it just looks like he's defending himself.
The other thing that REALLY bothers me is the scene when Han steps on Jabba's tail. Come on now If I had been GMing that encounter and one of my PC's steped on Jabba's tail they would find themselves in the Sarlac pit before long. You just don't do that to the galaxy's most notorious criminal.
Enough of this... I look forward to the release of these DVD's all the same 8)

The only reason Han steps on Jabba's tail in that scene, is because when they originally shot it, Jabba was a human. Han walked behind him and so they had to make Han walk behind the Hutt Jabba too, and that was the only way they could do it. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

The best thing about the Spec Ed is now Fett is in there from the get. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Sorry, Loc, but I can only put it this way...
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!
Darn it, Scraw!!! I was having a hard enough time waiting for it before...
*NOW*!!! Oy!
Very few of those things I can disagree with, and alot are stuff that Lucas has said that he wanted to do better (And, frankly, I agree with).
As for the stuff that folks may complain about, it's his baby. It's not like, say, his Children changing it after he's dead or some such. Or, worse, selling the rights to any idiot with money! |

Man if that’s what they are going to do, this will make it the best version yet!

BTW:
I voted for "mostly original, with a few from the Special Edition". The "few" in my mind is all of the added bonus scenes (NOT scenes that changed such as Han vs. Greedo). |

Well, the battle of Yavin and the way they re-did the take off from the moon was really cool. The cosmetic changes I don’t really mind, most are better than the original. Its just when they mess with continuity that I get a bit annoyed…like Greedo shooting first. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Han was not alive because he was nice. He was a scum, just like all the others. The whole point of the thing is that Han's love of the rebellion, Leia, Luke, and his stubborn Corellian attitude all shift him from a self-centered egoist to a hero of the New Republic.
But then again, maybe Greedo's just a lousy shot... _________________ "Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata"

I say make it a big set, both the original release of the trilogy and the special editions along with a special features disk for each episode that covers both versions and From Star Wars to Jedi. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Both versions? You mean the pre-Special Edition *rapes*? Not gonna happen. In an interview in "Star Wars Insider" Lucas said that the Special Editions were the definite versions of the Classic Star Wars movies, and no pre-SE-versions will be released.
He also said he's a "big fat stupid man", but they didn't print that. _________________ There is no emotion; there is peace.
