1.0 Overview
The Prowler 1000 (aka Prowler probe droid, seeker droid, retro nickname “Probot 1.0”) is Arakyd’s compact local-surveillance probe. Smaller and shorter-legged than the long-range Viper family that succeeded it, the Prowler was fielded in platoon packs by the Grand Army of the Republic and later repurposed by the Empire for base and city surveillance. A flat, disk-shaped body rides silent repulsors; multiple manipulator limbs allow perching, retrieval, and ceiling/ledge travel. An underslung transceiver dish can burst telemetry even if the primary body is damaged.

2.0 Capabilities & Equipment
Role: Short-range reconnaissance, target acquisition, crowd/area sweeps; not designed for independent interstellar patrols.
Locomotion: Repulsorlift hover with low acoustic signature; limb cluster for grasping/perching and recovering small objects or IDs.
Sensors: Frontal photoreceptor array with basic optical/EM suite; searchlights for night/low-light tracking.
Comms: Underslung directional transceiver for encrypted burst reports; hardened “last-gasp” buffer allows one final transmission on catastrophic damage (explains “kept transmitting after being destroyed”).
Armament: None as standard. Field kits sometimes added a compact light blaster for sentry work.
Size: 0.5 m body diameter/height profile; compact enough to ride troop racks or deploy from squad canisters.

3.0 Variants
Prowler 1000-EX (Exploration): Fifth-class programming; no weapons; extended data-logging for survey teams and engineers.
Prowler 1000-SK (Seeker): Fourth-degree routines for security/military patrols; optional light blaster hardpoint; tighter comms discipline.

4.0 History
Clone Wars: Widely issued to clone formations for local sweeps and tunnel/city searches (e.g., Utapau—Cody’s seeker packs hunting Kenobi). Commerce and medical sites also adopted EX kits as cheap survey drones.
Early Empire: Re-imaged for garrison surveillance and Jedi purge investigations; present at Imperial medical/rehab facilities (e.g., Vader reconstruction footage observers).
Lineage: Success of the Prowler line informed Arakyd’s Viper design program—longer-range, tougher, and mission-modular “Probot 2.x.”
Later use: Ubiquity and simplicity kept Prowlers in circulation for decades—seen with port authorities, pirates (e.g., Rav, 137 ABY), and tourist installations (a Prowler sight gag at a Star Tours terminal).
