I think it has VR options, but I don't think that VR is a requirement.

Not that I can play either way. I would bet my computer is older than the average user's car.

Looking forward to this but worry the SP portion will be negligible. Not much for PvP these days.

OK, watched and listened to the in-game trailer. I'm back to complaining that a squadron is more than 5 fighters, and claiming Rancor-2 as my position.

So, because crossplay still isn't a complete thing, how shall we go about signing up? On PC through Steam?

EDIT: Damnit. PC is not boss enough for the game. I can't even meet the minimum requirements. Sad

OK, so few o my initial thoughts:

1) 1:24 - nice reference to classic X-Wing/TIE Fighter series HUD - in plus
2) 0:49, 1:31 and 2:24 - momentum introduced?
3) Overall speed of vehicles is increased - definitely in plus
4) 2:50 - lot of new equipment/weapon customization for ships - in plus
5) Wing tracing - unnecessary in space
6) 2:56 - 180 turn - Twisted Evil
7) TI E HUD limits the view area too much IMHO
8) 4:30 - shield generators Rolling Eyes
9) "fast" stafighter lasers

Apparently it *IS* cross-platform. We literally could have Rancor Squadron!

I'm still calling dibs on Rancor-2.

So, uh, are we going to be making Rancor Squadron, folks?

I hope so. That would be great. I'm not sure when, but at some point my family are going to be on Xbox Live Gold. My son says that then will be be able to play with anyone online, but I'm not really up on how things work. My video game playing ability peaked with the Atari 7800.

Well, they've talked about Crossplay (IE: Being able to play on PC/PS4/XBOne with each other, rather than just on PC with PC people, etc.), so I'm hoping that happens.

Then it won't matter what version we get. We can finally be the squadron that The Rancor Pit deserves!

Last thing I heard from someone who makes updates on the game very regularly, all systems will be playing on the same servers.
Which for a game with a smaller target group, that's probably a very smart move. Since mouse and keyboard is terrible for flight games, everyone is going to fly either with stick or controller anyway, which should make the differences in player performance between different systems relatively minor.

As a huge X-Wing and TIE Fighter fan, I've been waiting for a Star Wars starfighter game on consoles since the space level in Halo: Reach showed that flying with controller can work great.
I am not sold on the game modes yet, though. From what I've seen of the game yet, it looks and sounds like it might get very repetitive very quickly.

Even if boring as hell, being able to FINALLY play with all of you folks in some manner is worth the cost.

If the squadron is still around by the time it drops to less than $20 I might join up. LoL Laughing

Gawds, I dunno how involved with the multiplayer aspect of Squadrons I'm going to get, but seeing as I love space flight sims, I'd be ecstatic at a chance to fly with the Rancor Pit Squadron. Hell, considering that I had a lot of fun playing a cleric/support character in the Pathfinder RPG, I might even take up flying the U-Wing/TIE Reaper if no one else will.

(And I call dibs on Rancor-3.) Razz

Then again, my internet conn sucks for multiplayer games, so even though I already pre-ordered Squadrons, I might have to decline playing with Rancor Pit Squadron very often. Embarassed Crying or Very sad

If there's an option to have permanent teams, then Rancor Squadron is now inevitable.
