When you really strip it down, we're talking about living beings, made of flesh and blood (for the most part) getting struck by high energy bolts.
And at some point you gotta ask yourself, is being a strong wookiee ever really going to make that big of a difference to your survival?
If it were ballistic firearms, it comes down to where you get hit. Ultimately you die when the brain dies.
That might come from oxygen starvation, which may come from bleeding out and not enough blood carrying that oxygen to the brain.
So a big hairy beast might have more blood and survive longer before he bleeds out. But he can also get shot directly in the head. Perhaps even a larger chance since his head is bigger (?)
Perhaps because he's bigger though, there is more surface area...more spots to get hit that aren't as vital...
It was this kind of thinking that led me to the rationale of limiting the die code to resist blaster shots.
For me it comes down to: When someone has a blaster pointed right at you, has you 'dead to rights' as it were...you don't try anything funny, because if you do you stand a good chance of dying. Even if you're a wookiee.
But then, that's my current style of game. Gritty and not as heroic. |
