It may also be worth consideration that with training, one's senses become sharper and they INCREASE in situational awareness during stress and battle.
One of the most important things in training is to learn to overcome "tunnel vision." Characters who have been trained to fight in an uncontrolled environment are taught to continuously maintain 360-degree alertness.
I would say, that within the system's existing framework, the perception attribute covers this (the search skill might do it, too; would have to check the RAW). In the case of force sensitives, they simply have one more "sense" (a sixth sense) which informs them. |

An excellent point, and one that hadn't occurred to me. If nothing else, the adrenaline rush from high stress situations could be used to explain why a free Perception or Sense roll wouldn't invoke a MAP under those circumstances.

I would definitely make it either Perception/Search or Sense, not both. After all, "your eyes can receive you; don't trust them." _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. BUt wouldn't that tunnel vision be more of a possible detriment to them learning something they 'cant see'? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

To be honest, AFAIAC, any randomness as to whether or not the character sensed the nature of the Force power being used is covered by the existing dice roll. I don't really feel like arguing as to what the adrenaline rush would or wouldn't allow the character to do. As such, for my purposes, the character gets a free Sense roll which doesn't generate a MAP. If he fails the roll, he didn't get a good read, if he succeeds, he did get a good read. YMMV. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
