IC - Episode IV There in the Dark

Trying to reconnect with the Force, Quin-Tain hits the brakes, rapidly decelerating and dropping some altitude to arc back to his fallen comrades.

OOC - Stop and rotate 90° in the process; plan to rotate the other 90° next round and fly back to the others.

Reylan

Reylan turns the speeder truck as soon as he can. He and Arek soon leave the steady stream of speeder traffic behind them. But their quickly faced with a new obstacle as a small crowd appears to be gathering in the off ramp, blocking all passage. What he sees is beings who seem to be moving about in a daze, as if they have been injured or something.

KAWD

"I'd leave the swoop," Giric says as they follow the being. Then he switches to a whisper so the KAWD can hear him but their companion can't. "If it gets stolen that's just as well. As you say there are possible ramifications of owning it. And the Red Claws are looking for us with it. It gets stolen now it will lead to the fact that we were here, yes, but it will also give us a little extra time as the Red Claws will have to back track it to this place.

"As for being moral, probably not. Or at least a little on the shaddy side while not entirely immoral. However, I didn't hear him say the owner of this limo gave it to him. Only that it broke down and they left it down here. For all we know it may have broke down and they left to get someone to pick it up and he stole it then modified it and maybe repainted it so it's proper owner couldn't find it. We could be trading a stolen vehicle for a stolen vehicle for all we know. For that matter we may have stolen a stolen vehicle as we have no clue how the Red Claws obtained the swoop.

"The swoop has to be repaired anyway and I don't like the idea of spending days to repair it. If the limo looks good and you're still worried about immorality of not telling him the possibilities in possessing the swoop, I would suggest we suggest to him he paint it and loose the sidecar. If we tell him the Red Claws are after it for all we know he may tell them he encountered us and what direction we headed in."

Reylan brings the truck to a stop as he reaches out to Giric. He sends an image of the truck he is in, as well as his perspective of the crowd.

KAWD

Leaving the swoop behind the KAWD and Giric follow their strange alien companion out to the back of the warehouse. This place seems even more broken down than inside the warehouse itself, with an ancient and mangled looking fence marking the boundaries of what was once a loading and unloading yard. Trash, mostly rusted out cans and broken bottles litter the yard, though it I clear someone has made at least some effort to clean the area a little. In the center sits what was once a clearly luxurious limousine that now looks as if it's been mated with a small delivery van. A thick, heavy weld seam is clearly visible running where the rear half of the limo had once been and the rear of the delivery van was added on despite the black primer that's been applied. The rear doors to the passenger compartment of the limo is still there, though as they get close it's obvious the rear seats have been ripped out and the doors are just to make it possible to load/unload some cargo when there's a larger load in the back. It's clear it could probably hold twelve inside, though it would be a bit crowded.



"Hey, I know she doesn't look like much. But she's got it where it counts," their companion says as he gets behind the control column and pushes the starter. There's a coughing sound and the modified limo begins coming to life then with a whine it settles back to the ground. "Come on you bucket of bolts!"

The being gives the control console a hard whack. There's more coughing then suddenly with a roar the vehicle rises up on it's repulsorlifts and hovers, the engines sounding as if they are brand new.

"Sometimes she a little temperamental," their companion says sheepishly, giving them a lopsided grin. "Engines have been tuned to the best I could do, but getting the parts is a real harlot's kiss around here so I've gotta make do at times with what I can get or repair, ya know. You shut her down and she may not want to turn over right away, just give the console a good hard whack or two and she'll roar to life. Not as fast as that swoop of yours, but you know she's still in decent shape. Plenty of room for hauling whatever cargo you might want to haul. So what do you say, wanna make a trade?"

Reylan

Reylan brings the speeder truck to a stop as he tries reaching out to Giric. But he finds the Force refuses to allow him to project anything.

Quin-Tain

Quin-Tain slows the airspeeder down. At the same time he swerves the airspeeder as close to the right edge of the bridge as possible without falling over the edge, hoping to give himself enough room for what he has planned. Then with a hard yank in the opposite directionon the control column he takes the airspeeder through 180 degrees, preforming a bootlegger turn that takes him and Roth completely across the width of the bridge and put's them just as close to the opposite edge as they had just been mere moments before on the other side.

Roth

Looking around Roth sees all possible shots are behind him and Quin-Tain. Then all of the sudden Quin-Tain swerves the airspeeder close to the edge of the bridge, too close for Roth's comfort. Then he executes a bootlegger turn that puts them too close for Roth's comfort to the opposite edge of the bridge.

Ali

Ali quickly crosses to the ladder. As she moves she notes the remaining airborne Red Claws have gotten past Roth and Quin-Tain and are heading back towards the base. Unlike the ones on the landing pad, these two can clearly see she and the constable are still alive.

(OOC: Tobias incapacitated and unconcious for 33 minutes 50 seconds. Daevon unconcious for 37 minutes 30 seconds. The tall Trando unconcious for 38 minutes 45 seconds.

Reylan failed his control roll for projective telepathy.

Quin-Tain uses no CPs to execute bootlegger)

The KAWD nods to Giric and provided they get permission begins to inspect the modified limo, taking time when they look at the engines to see if there are any issues that may crop up.

Muttering under his breath, Roth realigns his weapon, opening up his senses as he looks for another shot.

Roth

Looking about Roth sees the Red Claw airspeeder is beyond his range of fire, as is the remaining active Trandoshan. He can see that the crew on the airspeeder should be able to see Ali and the constable running across the roof to a ladder on the side of the Red Claw base.

Ali

"DROID! LOOK OUT!" The constable shouts. Ali looks up to see an approaching Red Claw airspeeder.

Quin-Tain

Quin-Tan pilot's the airspeeder back towards Tobias and Daevon. He can see the Red Claw airspeeder heading back towards the base.

Reylan

Reylan tries to project a thought at Giric, but again he can't seem to focus on the Force enough to do so.

KAWD

The KAWD examines the modified limo, taking note of the fact that Giric doesn't bother to follow it's lead. Still it continues to examine the engine the best it can, not seeing anything out of the ordinary to it. It knows there is a potential problem on start up as it witnessed what happened when the being started it. But a simple whack fixed that. With what it knows about starship engines it assumes that just means there is a poor connection somewhere and the whack jars things enough to make contact. Of course it doesn't know how similar engines on repulsorlift craft are to those of starships. But from what it can see the engine looks reliable enough.


"Unit 713 to Oswat District Headquarters. In pursuit of a hit and run. Driver is piloting a red, two door Dren Model 57 sports speeder. Requesting a roadblock established at the district entrance to the Lower City." a voice calls from the front console of the modified limo.

"Affirmative Unit 713."

The being looks at the speeder and shrugs.

"Forgot to mention I installed an emergency transceiver tuned to TCA channels. Good way to avoid road blocks. Also good to determine if a transport vehicle has broken down so as to get a quick job. Hope you guys aren't planning on heading up to the Oswat District of the Middle City any time soon," he says with a shrug. Giric on the other hand gives the KAWD a quick smile.

(OOC: Tobias incapacitated and unconcious for 33 minutes 45 seconds. Daevon unconcious for 37 minutes 25 seconds. The tall Trando unconcious for 38 minutes 40 seconds.

Quin-Tain and Roth halfway back to Tobias and Daevon Will have to slow down to cautious before you can stop. Two rounds at cautious to reach them or one more round at cruising and then you'll have to pass them at cautious and return before stopping)

Ali seeks out and heads for the nearest cover. If there is none, she moves at max speed to reach further cover or the ladder. (whichever is closer)

The KAWD turns back to the being and after determining how much fuel is the modified limo has it says.

"The terms of the trade are acceptable if a basic toolkit is part of the deal as it may be that further tuning is needed to fix the lose contact."

OOC: If the fuel looks low the KAWD also asks for more fuel.

Quin-Tain slows down on approach (Cautious), keeping an eye on the situation, ready to dodge if something unexpected should occur.

Reylan takes a deep breath and centers himself. He concentrates on the Force allowing it to flow through him. He then again tries to control the flow of the Force between himself and Giric

Ali

Seeing no cover Ali looks over the side of the building and sees that the ladder looks to be undamaged in any way. It's clear to her she should be able to make it down safely, as long as the approaching Red Claws don't hit her.

Quin-Tain

Quin-Tain slows the airspeeder down, watching the Red Claws as they continue to approach their base. He can now just make out the shapes of Ali and the constable on the roof of the Red Claw base as he and Roth cover half the remaining distance to Daevon and Tobias.

KAWD

The being frowns at this. It's pretty clear that the KAWD's terms have him troubled.

"All I have is basic tool kit and if I give it to you I won't be able to fix the swoop. Maybe I can spare a couple tools or so from it if that will suit your needs but I can't give you the entire thing."

Giric suddenly holds his head for no apparent reason. He starts looking around, confused, as if he's seeing something that can't be seen by most beings in the galaxy.

"What's wrong with him?"

Reylan

Reylan feels the Force flow around him as he projects thoughts of the speeder truck and the crowd.

"Their not moving," Arek says, a little pained. "What do you think is wrong with them?"

(OOC: Tobias incapacitated and unconcious for 33 minutes 40 seconds. Daevon unconcious for 37 minutes 20 seconds. The tall Trando unconcious for 38 minutes 35 seconds.

Quin-Tain and Roth quarter of the way back to Tobias and Daevon Will have to slow down to cautious before you can stop. One round at cautious to reach them, So in the next round you'll reach them.

The KAWD quickly evaluates Giric visually, also checking for any changes in temperature as it attempts to diagnose what may be happening.

"Evaluating, agreement acceptible. Ailment is likely due to being forced into an ill-fitting sidecar and moving at high speeds. It should soon pass."

After a pause the KAWD adds

"It would be wise to consider repainting your new swoop and perhaps a little body work to change it's shape. A swoop racer should have an impressive and unique swoop in order to obtain fans."
