Redirection is exceedingly hard.

Okay - we ran across a new dilema - is it feasible to insinuate that you add your lightsaber die to the control roll to ridirect?

I don't think so. 2R&E, p. 148, says "If the Jedi tries to control the blaster bolt, she makes a control roll . . . ." If it said you make a Lightsaber roll then you could add your Control because of the Lightsaber Combat power, but not the other way around.

AND - would it be overpowering if not to allow the control roll to not be affect by MAP's???

he have a player contesting that otherwise its exceedingly difficult for lower level force users to redirect. not really to deflect but to redirect.

I think it's supposed to be difficult. How many lower level force users do you ever see do this in the movies? They are lucky to swat the bolt away. But at least the option is there, and you can always drop a CP or two for those times where you really need to redirect. I would leave the MAPs. Let it be an option that the low level gets to grow into.

I agree with wookie.. Redirecting bolts is supposed to be hard, and rare is the jedi newbie who can do it.

Well actually, as soon as you control gets at a certain point, redirecting bolts is pretty easy. All you have to do is a control roll against the normal difficulty... which will most likely be very easy or easy (if not you would probably not stand in a place where you cn get hit to begin with -.-). So even with only 2D for the redirection roll, you will probably hit as long as the enemies doesn't dodge (and if its the last action anyone can do in the round, you don't even loose anything by simply trying it, even with only 1D left ^^)

Good luck having them not try and dodge.

Of course it depends highly on the enemie. We had some Droids with 1D in Dodge and 2D in Blaster. They already fired, so they could have only dodged with 0, meaning that they can't dodge ^^

Of course, they were supposed to be some trash mobs, but this would be one of the instances where 1D or maybe 2D left in control (after MAP reduction) would suffice to potentially defeat another opponent.
