That said I have seen Strength and Dexterity severely neglected on occasion, usually on techie-type characters like slicers, or pilots who can't keep from tripping over their own two feet.

For me, i see that a lot with those who get their gms to allow them to purchase the heavy armors and not put in any reprocussions of them having the armor (hunters after them, customs inspector demanding to see their license to own it etc.

I rarely dumped Perception myself, I liked the skills too much (could say the same of all the attributes... I like jack-of-all-trades characters) and always saw initiative as too important... I'd reduce strength first and hope a solid Dex/Per, and when necessary, a few CPs would keep me from being hit in the first place. |
I have... BUT it was also scripted that it was a surprise ambush.... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Lac of Perception for us is not as deadly as ZzaphodD indicates. Fortunately for Bren, my brash young Jedi as his Perception is only 2D+2 - and that after spending 40 CPs to raise his perception. Sometimes his Search or his good Sense ability can substitute; sometimes he is just clueless. |

Sounds like you need to start using other Dex related skills or situations..
like having to run across ice (dex)
Running period
melee/brawl parry them.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I typically make Mechanical-Heavy characters, and neglect either Technical or Knowledge. Or a mixture of those and Perception. |

I think Gry was right when he said that it depends on the style of play.
In our group we have two characters with good MEC stats and two with poor MEC stats. Most of the time the low MEC characters kick butt, but whenever vehicles are involved they are almost deadwood. The gun who runs the shields can't angle the shields and do anything else (the MAP would do him in). We've had adventures where we had to fill out a squadron of rebel fighters, too, and those guys ended up relying heavily on their astromechs to keep them alive.
I think the closest thing to a dump stat is STR, but that is used to soak damage. |
