It's not that there is a definite date and time, it's just that before the expiry date virtually everyone agrees it is still OK to drink. And certainly there is some point in time where nearly everyone agrees it is no longer fresh milk. The expiry addresses the former, not the latter. If characters choose to use expired jumps they may end up in the stinky cheese. |

Yeah, and given that my players constantly scan, rescan (ad nauseum) their ship for tracking devices or bombs, this will come out of nowhere..
One can also tamper with the computer itself..

One game session i had, one of the PC's did just that with a downed imperial shuttle. It along with the pcs (and several other ships) were downed on a desert planet, by pirates, to leave people for slavers to pick up.
The pc's got to the imps (as they were the closest other downed ship, AND in an oasis), and had to help them fix up both the imps and their ship.
The pc planted a code in the imps shuttle, that if he didn't send a code to (via radio), would reverse the coordinates, so when they went into hyperspace it would take them directly into a star.
Not only did the imps NOT turn on the pc's, but 2 actually saved a pc from a local critter who wanted to lunch on that pc..
So when it came time, even with me warning him of gaining a DSP for willful murder, he struggled to NOT go through with it. 3 other pcs had to talk him out of it,.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
