Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I would be happy to pony up the cash to be a member.
Before Origins last year I had only played in a few one off games years ago. Thanks to the Sparks events I not only got the itch to play again, I decided to run a long term campaign for my home group. I'm just looking forward to being a player again at Origins. Every GM I have ever played under in any game has had something special I could learn from and take back to my own table, the Sparks events were no exception.
Sparks and The Rancor Pit are entirely comprised of people that have been passionate supporters of a game that died decades ago. Somehow, Star Wars D6 is still alive and growing. The community has always been my favorite part of tabletop RPGs, and this is one of the best gaming communities I have ever found.
[cue sappy music]
Everyone here has been an absolute pleasure to converse with since I joined. I look forward to meeting and slinging dice with as many of you as possible.
[fade out sappy music]
On a side note I will be bringing a copy of "Star Wars Episode 4 Revisited" with me to Origins. If you have never seen it here's your chance. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." Don't worry about it. I got a response and that whole "Membership" rule has not been enforced for a while now. As long as you have the update sheets, you are good.
HOWEVER if you do sign up to be a member, at certain cons (Origins and gencon mostly) we as a group DO make con related d6, which each member gets one for free.

Wednesday evening, i am playing one of the 3 open slots
Thursday i am playing Sparks 141A (hopefully i get a ticket) at 9am. At 2pm i am running Sparks 78 (one of my modules i wrote), and later in the evening at 7pm i am running Sparks 133 (not one of my modules, but i remember it as a fun one).
Friday at 9am onward, i am playing all 3 in the Sparks 205 series.
Saturday at 9am, i am playing Sparks 120.
At 2pm i am playing Sparks 204.
For the Seminar i am running one of the 3 mission tables (and i already have it all wrote out).
Sunday, i am running 2 more of my modules. Sparks 169 at 9am, and Sparks 72 at 2pm. |
I've completed by registration/payment and got my itinerary. I'm not a marathon gamer anymore like I was as a teenager, so no more three adventure days for me. And I decided to only go 2 days (Thu & Fri) to minimize my badge expenditure fee and not deal with weekend parking. So that left me with four adventures in two days, and I'm very pleased with what I got:
6/4/15
2:00 PM - 06:00 PM -> 6007 Sparks #78 (WEG SW D6 ran by garhkal)
7:00 PM - 11:00 PM -> 6212 Star Wars - First Mission (WotC SW Saga)
6/5/15
1:00 PM - 05:00 PM -> 6477 Serenity: A Little Bit of Piracy (MWP Firefly, Cortex Plus?)
7:00 PM - 11:00 PM -> 6200 The start of something big (FFG SW Age of Rebellion)
cynanbloodbane, I really hope you and your group got into Sparks #78 because that's the only WEG SW D6/garhkal game I'm doing.
I'm happy that I get to try out the latest editions of the other two SW RPGs because I have WotC and FFG SW, but I've never played them so this will give me an experienced opinion of them. And while there were tons of FFG SW mini events, I could surprising find 0 Edge of the Empire rpg adventures and only 1 Age of Rebellion rpg adventure (which I thankfully got into).
And not only do I love Firefly/Serenity, but the GM of the Firefly game I got into is a college fraternity brother of mine who played in my SW game in the 90s (and ran other games for me), and this will be the first time we have gamed together since then.
Next year I'll probably go for a couple days again and play completely different games. I was disappointed that several RPGs I wanted to try were not even offered, so maybe next year. _________________ *

Well, I will see you in Sparks 78! Looks like my son and a friend from my home group got in as well.
I will also be in Sparks #209 on Sunday.
I got into all but one of my wish list games. Delta Green fills up so fast!
This will be a blast! _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." The Brain |

Thanks for checking into that option, but I think I may want to make a new PC this year anyway. Since you are my first and only Sparks GM this year, I'd like to make the character beforehand (and even get him approved by you in advance).
http://sparks.wikidot.com/current-pc-templates
This says it was the approved template list in 2014. Is this still current? Are there any newer template options available this year or any of these that aren't? Are there any changes to any of these? Please let me know when you can. Thanks! _________________ *

The templates from 2014 Gencon last till the beginning of 2015's Gencon. Of that list of templates, the only ones that got changed out for the 2014-2015 time frame were
Discharged security agent (what the former corsec officer got changed to)
Field researcher (what the Eccentric professor changed to)
Freelance protector (just a name change and a few skill changes for the freelance bodyguard)
If you need me to i can email you the current 'template' package' we use. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

May I have a copy as well please?
My son will need a character, & he has an easier time getting into character if he has time to think about the character.
I'll pm you my e-mail. _________________ "Yes because killing the guy you always planned on usurping and killing anyways in order to save your own kid, totally atones for murdering a roomful of innocent trusting children." The Brain |
