Thank the Force. I'm thinking of going to see Solo again at the Uptown again before it goes away next week. I'll probably go Saturday night.
But yeah, it's really good to see that Solo didn't flop and is even doing better than breaking even. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

The friend I went to the show with said that Howard reshot like 80% of the film? _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Probably closer to 40% of what they already had when he stepped in. I'm not sure what % of the original film had already been shot when Howard took over (I'm thinking about half), but we do know that Ron Howard shot 70% of the final product, which was required for him to have sole credit as director. So when he stepped in they probably looked at what he had still to shoot, and then out of the footage they already had, decided what to reshoot, to get to that 70% total. The original directors got Executive Producer credits, which I think is fair since they did lead the move through pre-production and half of principle photography. _________________ *

Here are some more references. So much cool stuff!
Quote: | HAN: So this is sa-back ?
LANDO: Sabacc.
HAN: Sabacc – got it.
LANDO: You played before?
HAN: A couple times, yeah.
LANDO: Captain Lando Calrissian.
HAN: Han Solo. Looks like you’re having a good day.
LANDO: I’m a lucky guy.
HAN: Can I ask you a question, Captain Calrissian?
LANDO: Anything, Han.
HAN: It’s Han, but that’s OK. |
I love how Lando's perpetual mispronunciation of Han matches Han's original mispronunciation of Sabacc. It's like Lando was offended by the mispronunciation of his favorite game and keeps making fun of him for it.
Quote: | HAN: I have a really good feeling about this! |

HAN: I know. |
My son and I watched Solo for the 4th time tonight (We maintained the pattern of seeing it every 8 days since premiere night). It is so much fun! I would have to say this will probably be the last time we see it in the theater though.
Being the third weekend of release and the box office being under projection, I thought there would be no trouble getting in so we just showed up at the theater after lunch and got denied because it was sold out. Then we checked the next showing and it was almost sold out with only crappy up front seats left over. So I checked another theater on my phone and their next showing was nearly sold out, and the checked their next time and got in. We went home and called my dad and then hung out until it was time to go, and then when we got into our showing during the trailers, it was packed. Granted both of these theaters only had Solo showing on one screen, but it looked like a lot of fathers took their kids to see Star Wars in the theater today. I hope they had a good day at the box office.
Go see Solo in the theater again while you can! _________________ *

I rather liked Solo. I have a few issues with it - mostly that the middle sags with too much talking - but I only saw it once. My feelings my change when I get it on Bluray, but all in all, its much better than either of the numbered sequel movies. |

Here are some release dates for those interested:
Sep 4 - Solo: A Star Wars Story: Expanded Edition (hardcover novelization)
Sep 14 - Solo: A Star Wars Story (digital film)
Sept 25 - Solo: A Star Wars Story (DVD, blu-ray, etc.)
Also, here is a link that lists many Solo-related books and comic books coming out. |
I cannot wait for it to hit the small screen. I have been so busy I have never made it back to see it again. I want to see it soooooooo bad. I loved the movie. It is one that I have a feeling will get worn out being watched over and over again. |

I have not had a chance to make it back to the movies to see it. I have ended up not just working desk job but some fool (myself) thought it would be good to work the firehouse again a couple days a week.

It's here! After work I picked up my Solo blu-ray and we watched the film tonight.
It did seem to view better at home (not so dim). And I loved watching it with subtitles so I could make out a few more lines I missed in my theatrical viewings. _________________ *

I have to do this myself. The theatre screen did seem more than a bit dim (I recall an article mentioning that there were technical issues about this) and there were a few places were I missed a few lines also. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

I wasn't able to see the film in theaters, but my wife got the digital copy for me for an early birthday present. The movie definitely had a very dim, grey feel to it. I think it was probably intentional for a scum and villainy group operating in margins of society, the grey area if you will. _________________ RR

I agree. However it was worse in the theaters.
What did you think of the movie as a whole? _________________ *
