Bringing this thread back up..
Some players over the years, have felt that creatures 4+ meters in size (like Rancors etc), should be seen as Speeder, even Walker scale..
So what 'scale' would you see these In'sha'ka dragons?
If they are higher scale, should their stats drop or raise up to compensate?
What of the damage from their breath weapon? Should that also drop or raise any?
What would their physical/energy protection be from their scales? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

When working on Zentraedi, I decided to go with "Your attributes remain the same, but you apply scale modifiers."
So, let's say the dread Garhkal, a truly ancient and horrible troll-beast*, is Walker scale. It might only have a 4D strength, meaning its Brawling skill would key off that 4D strength... but it would have a 4D scale modifier when inflicting or absorbing damage from character-scale creatures. If it were nimble for its size, it might have a 3D Dexterity, but any Brawling Parry attempts would take a scale modifier.
Not familiar with the In'sha'ka, so I can't answer that part, save that the scaling would improve any particular defenses they have.

In'sha'ka Dragons (from page 2)
As far as the original question, since you are basing your dragons on D&D dragons, use age categories, with the dragons getting larger and larger as they get older. A hatchling would be Character scale; a adolescent or young adult would be Speeder, and so on and so forth. Depending on how far you want to push it, ancient dragons might even make it up into Capital Scale range.
Then just keep their breath weapon and armor protection stats the same, but apply the Scale modifier to adjust.
Also, we've discussed breath weapons previously here, along with some rules for scaling it up. One idea I liked was treating the RoF on breath weapons like a superlaser, in that rather than once every 4 rounds, a dragon has a dice pool that slowly recharges, and can vary the damage output to conserve ammo, or can deliver a full power blast that drains his reserves. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Wait, I thought we weren't supposed to feed the trolls? If we can't feed the trolls, why would we feed a troll-beast?
And who thought keeping a garhkal as a pet would be a good idea? _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
