 Courier Swoop
A rugged, kit-bashed swoop nicknamed the “Kettlebug” for its squat intake and rattling belly. It mounts external panniers and a belly rack for parcels, tools, or a field med-kit; a retractable landing strut and tow hook let it winch crates out of sand or slush. Mechanics love its open layout: every hose and feed line is exactly where you can hit it with a spanner.

Story hook. A frontier clinic is down to its last vials of anti-venom, and a storm wall is closing. The courier’s Kettlebug is the only craft small enough to thread the canyon thermals and fast enough to beat the weather. Halfway through, a rival prospector springs a claim-jumping ambush with bolas, forcing the pilot to drag a skimmer across a gravel bar using the tow hook while a partner snipes cables from the saddle. Make it through, and the clinic lives—and the prospector’s “accident” points to a larger mining war.
