For your home gaming needs, do you all prefer color printers, or are you ok with B/W ones?
Do you prefer Laser jets, or inkjets? OR something else? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I'm a snob for a good laser printer, and mine is a Canon. It does well, but the plain black (for black text) isn't as rich and dark as I would like. I'd love to get a better printer. Partly because when I buy all four toner cartridges cost over $80 each, meaning it costs over $300 when I need to replace them. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I have an HP color laser scanner/printer combo, which itself is an upgrade from the previous HP color laser printer only. I mostly use it for printing decals for my home model kit business, but obviously it works for everyday stuff, too.
The main difference between laser and ink jet is the cost of your cartridges relative to the use you get out of them. Typical ink jet cart is about $30-$40 and you get 500-odd pages. Typical laser cart is $60 to $80 but you're getting upwards of 2000 pages. So, round numbers, the laser is more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run.
That said, Amazon is full of package deals of "off brand" laser carts where you can get the whole set of four for the same price as a single of the manufacturer's brand. |

Also one thing to be noted, when you buy a new inkjet, the cartridges you often get are not as 'full' as replacement ones.. They are kind of introductory ones. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

For most stuff I find basic BW is fine.
However - I do like color for printing handouts and equipment cards, npc cards etc.
I had an old dell color laser that lasted about 10+ years...
My new one is a Brother color led (not actually laser tech I think) - it was a great intersection of price performance.
(It also has full duplexing for those times I need double sided handouts etc.).
For really long documents I just go to the library or printer place.
(like 100+ pages). _________________ SW Fan, Gamer, Comic, Corporate nerd.
