Didn't see an old thread in the first few pages, so I thought I'd ask.
The rules (R&E pg. 74) have this as options for rolling 1 on the Wild Die:
• Add up the dice normally.
• Total up the skill dice normally to see if the skill roll succeeded, but a "complication" occurs. (See "Complications" below.)
• Subtract the one and also subtract the highest other die.
I'm just curious - as GMs, how often do you use the various options? My players expect a complication every time they roll a 1 (which is probably not a bad mindset to cultivate).
Note that I'm not talking about specific instances where the rules say "if a 1 is rolled on the Wild Die, X happens" (the jury-rigging rules in Galladinium's for example). |

I usually use the complication, but if I can't think of anything I take away the 1 and highest die. |
