EDIT: Please see the NEW Rancor Pit SPOILER POLICY

OLD Policy

Until further notice, all spoiler discussions and media of current and forthcoming Star Wars content first appearing on Disney+ will be protected by the following spoiler protection practices:

    (a) There will be a single "Spoilers Allowed" thread stickied to the top of the General Star Wars forum for each show when it first airs in America. These are the only threads where open spoiler discussions of these shows are allowed without restriction.
    (b) Everywhere else on the Rancor Pit, please use White Font Colour tags for any spoiler text. Please be tactical about the use of spoiler tagging. If the mere presence of spoiler tagging would hint to a revelation in the film, please instead post it in the applicable Spoilers Allowed thread.
    (c) Outside of the Spoilers Allowed threads, please do not post images with spoilers, including in the Star Wars Memes thread. As an option you can always post a URL to spoiler images.
    (d) Outside of the Spoilers Allowed threads, please clearly identify links to web pages with spoiler content. If the URL text itself is a spoiler, please only post it in the applicable Spoilers Allowed thread.
    (e) Please do not 'cross-spoil' by posting spoilers for one show in another show's Spoilers Allowed thread.

Officially released trailers, images, and information from the studio and creators are not spoilers. Pure fan speculation is not spoiling. Unintentionally released materials (from leaks) are spoilers.

Below is the content that spoiler restrictions are currently in effect for with links to the Spoilers Allowed threads. This list will be updated here as more shows are released, and a reply will be posted in the thread to announce the update.

The Clone Wars - Season 7 (There are no restrictions on prior seasons.)
The Bad Batch (a direct sequel to TCW Season 7) should be discussed in the above TCW s7 thread since even speculation for it could include spoilers for TCW s7.

    The Mandalorian
Rangers of the New Republic - spinoff of The Mandalorian
Ahsoka - spinoff of The Mandalorian
The Book of Boba Fett - spinoff of The Mandalorian
These direct spinoff shows should be discussed in the above Mandalorian thread since even speculation for them could include spoilers for The Mandalorian.

There are currently no spoiler restrictions in effect for The Rise of Skywalker or any prior theatrical films but the spoiler policy will be updated before the next film is released.

Sometime after all the Disney+ spoiler protected content is available in all regions with active users of this website, then the Disney+ spoiler practices will be updated to something simpler like spoiler restrictions for each episode being in effect until 2 weeks after its release.

This spoiler policy currently only applies to new Disney+ Star Wars shows. Regarding Star Wars novels, comic books, games, etc., not spoiling forthcoming or new Star Wars stories is a common courtesy but not strictly regulated. Please feel free to use spoiler warning labels and white font colour tagging when posting about these as well.

Please feel free to share Disney+ launch date information and ask questions here. Thank you.

EDIT: Telsij had special dispensation to post boldly labeled spoiler character write-ups in the Obscure Character Archive thread. This has expired under the new policy (linked at the top of this post and bottom post of this thread)

When posting spoilers, please announce that portions of your post contains spoilers, and hide the spoiled material by changing your font color. At the top right of your screen you can change "Font colour:" from Default to "White" (second from the bottom). This won't render your text completely invisible, but it will render it hard to read, forcing another user to highlight it to make it legible.

Example:
Major plot spoiler:
Bruce Willis is actually a Force Spirit all along. Rosebud was his swoop bike. Darth Snape kills Dumbledore!

Just be careful when quoting spoiled material.

FYI.

Much of the world still does not have Disney+.

I updated the spoiler policy in the OP to reflect the newly announced sequel series to TCW. Please do not post new threads for it. Please post about it in TCW s7 Spoilers Allowed thread linked above. Thank you.

You should get Disney+ for the one-week free trial to watch the 4K versions of the classic trilogy - They are beautiful looking. Even if you have to watch them on your computer. They are worth seeing once.

Even though the Rancor Pit is a community service for everyone including lurkers, my first responsibility is to registered users who post here. I haven't gotten any replies to the above thread about those in the world that do not have access to Disney+ content. The ones who had voiced concern last year do have access now. It looks like the only pending areas are Eastern Europe and parts of Asia.

So I am thinking about changing the Spoiler Policy to a simpler uniform standard of two-three weeks for Star Wars stories of all media: theatrical films, Disney+ content, novels, comics, etc. Theatrical films and Disney+ shows will still have spoiler allowed threads where spoilers are allowed before the spoiler protection period is up. Everywhere else on the forum, white font spoiler tagging will be required during the spoiler protection period. And then after that period, anything can be discussed anywhere without protection. For ongoing Disney+ series of more than a few weeks, it will be a situation of more recent episodes must only be discussed in the dedicated spoiler thread, but older episodes are opened up for general posting forum-wide.

Thoughts?

I think 3 weeks is fair. I usually don't fall behind more than a week or so if things get busy. Maybe do a poll?

This sounds pretty fair to me.

Polls allow registered lurkers to have an equal say without comment, and for some things I feel that posting participant opinions should matter more. So this thread asking for thoughts was in effect the "poll," to which there were three responses. Thank you for participating.

I was going to go with two weeks, but since Raven Redstar suggested three weeks and two of you expressed that was fair, I have gone with that. Please see the new policy linked below.

NEW Rancor Pit SPOILER POLICY

Thank you.
