If you look at this clip, at precisely the 8 second mark, three ships can be seen in the left and lower left portion of the screen, in the distance beyond the tail end of Home One. They don't look like anything with official stats, although the leading one bears some resemblance to a Dreadnaught cruiser. They appear to be in the Corvette or Frigate size range...

Any thoughts as to what they might be, or any suggestions as to where clearer images might be found?

That lower one i assumed was a dreadnought. The other, looks almost like one of those agri ships we often see in clips of BSG..

That was my first thought, too, but it's too slender to be a Dreadnaught. Maybe a Rendili Star Drive frigate of some kind, built on the same general pattern as a Dread, but smaller, slimmer and faster?

More than likely, the Dreadnaught design was inspired by this.

Mel's Miniatures designed these over at Shapeways.com based on two of the blurry background ships:

MC20 Mon Calamari Corvette

Sullustan Dreadnaught

Oh my...

Much thanks, Ryan. Those are beautiful.

I've been thinking about repurposing the MC30 Frigate from Armada back to where I originally had it (the Corellian Heavy Cruiser), and this MC20 looks far more plausible as a fragile platform like Armada's MC30.

I don't know if I'd stick with a Sullustan Dreadnaught; there are several other ships listed in the RotJ novel that have no clear match...

Here's the quote from the RotJ novel as to the ships making up the Rebel Fleet...
In a remote and midnight vacuum beyond the edge of the galaxy, the vast Rebel fleet stretched, from its vanguard to its rear echelon, past the range of human vision. Corellian battle ships, cruisers, destroyers, carriers, bombers, Sullustan cargo freighters, Calamarian tankers, Alderaanian gunships, Kesselian blockade runners, Bestinian skyhoppers, X-Wing, Y-Wing and A-Wing fighters, shuttles, transport vehicles, manowars.
Maybe the Sullustan ship could be an Alderaanian Gunship...

True, we really didn't get any WEG sourcebook naming the dreadnought till way after ROTJ came out.

I found a couple more on the Mel's Miniatures page that are actually mystery ships from the end of Empire Strikes Back...

Mon Calamari MC-19 Light Freighter

And the Rebel Fuel Tanker

Both can be seen in this video clip at 0:02 mark. The Tanker is directly below the Millennium Falcon (docked on the Nebulon B), and the MC19 is just above and to the right of the Nebulon's stern.

Kudo's for the awesome find, Ryan. There's plenty more there that I D/L'd for personal use.

Indeed. I need to concentrate on the Force Attribute article for the Adventurer's Journal first, though...

Looking at those first few seconds of the ESB ending video clip, there are several more ships that look like nothing else in the canon (it appears there's actually a second MC19 in there, too), but are even harder to get a clear view of. Oh well...

I noticed the tankers from watching the VHS back in the 80s, but I've never noticed the MC freighters. Sweet! Since the Fleet doesn't have any of the big MC ships at the end of TESB, it is nice that there are multiple smaller MC ships there.

When you get to the point of statting out the MC19, let me know. Having designed the MC13 Freighter, I may have some ideas or suggestions.

You're welcome, fellows.

This was the initial page I found after reading CRMcNeill's OP. If you look down below (7th, 17th and 20th posts on the page), you'll find top views of corvette and dreadnaught/assault frigate variants as well as many other vessels (including a reimagined Colonial battlestar and Cylon baseship), all of which seem to scale with one another.

Here is Mel's catalog over at Shapeways. His stuff is awesome, but out of my price range.

Fortunately, the images can be downloaded for free. I particularly liked his treatment of several of the ships from Star Wars: Rebellion, which only have a 3/4 front view from the game library with which to work.
