|
|
I have been kicking around the idea of the strength and scale of certain items that appear in games frequently or I have questions about. For example a blast door. I believe they are Strength 6D and have no scale modifier. How do you guys feel about that? To further illustrate this, how about a reinforced communication bunker?
If we assume that a 6D blast door is pretty darn strong then we would think the same of a communications bunker. So if that is the strongest material for a door perhaps its the same for a building.
Communications Bunker
Scale: Character
Body Strength: 6D
An AT-AT shows and shoots at it. Since its stationary I would give a positive modifier and no scale difference to hit it. Say a +1D. So its pretty much going to get hit. Now we roll damage, the main weapons on an AT-AT do 6D+4D for scale difference for a total of 10D.
On average, the building will roll 21 and the AT-AT, 35. A difference of 14 points which is Heavily Damaged. If hit again it becomes it becomes Seriously Damage and if hit a third time, it is Destroyed.
Does that seem right to you guys? Do you think that inanimate buildings, bunkers, etc should even have a scale difference or just bump the Body Strength? Do you think a +1D modifier to hit a stationary object is reasonable? _________________ Don Diestler

i've always felt there should be some sort of main rules for buildings in regards to resistance/body values. Cause at 6d, a force pointed normal human could punch through a blast door which just makes me go "Fut the whuk?"!!! _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I think they should have a scale difference, but that their scale will seldom be character.... a communications bunker is likely to be walker, if not starfighter, scale, as well as substantial armor and body.
I mean, I can figure a bunker made from the body of an AT-AT. Then cover it with dirt and ferrocrete. That's not going to be character scale. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

I dunno, that doesn't sound as awesome as something I saw in one of the WEG books: an AT-AT that had its legs replaced with repulsorlifts and subsequently turned into a pleasurecraft/mobile casino. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

Wasn't there also one that was a casino/building on Tattoine which was a crashed cap ship?? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

The only crashed ship write-up I remember is the ProfitSmasher in Hideouts and Strongholds, but that was more of a pirate/smuggler hideout that kept switching owners. (The narrator even says "I'm telling you, the flargin' thing is jinxed.") It wasn't a casino and it wasn't on Tatooine. Are you remembering something different from the ProfitSmasher, garhkal? Because if you are, I'm curious to see that write-up. _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies

The Lucky Despot. I spent some time there before Star Wars Galaxies was retired. _________________ Currently playing D&D 5E and painting an unholy amount of miniatures. |
