Ladies and gentlebeings, I write to you today to correct a grievous wrong. Or, as Lor San Tekka would say, to help "make things right".

I cannot find any stats for the Corellian Engineering Corporation's LC-10bW Laser ice-cutter repulsorcraft:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Laser_ice-cutter

Click here for different, large image of the same weapon

From the behind the scenes and publicity photos of Empire, it's apparent that the vehicle, which does appear briefly on screen, originally had a much larger role:

Note the segment that begins at 8:48 into the video.

How can we, as supposed "Star Wars fans", look at ourselves in the mirror, when a key Rebel repulsorcraft, with on-screen time in one of (if not THE) best motion pictures of all times, has no RPG stats, D6 or otherwise?!!

Or did I just miss the stat block in Gry Sarth's vehicle guide? Smile

May the Force of Others be with you!

Apparently there is a groundswell of interest in this particular vehicle. Smile

Ah well - I tried. Smile

I think the silence is an indication that the "you found it, you stat it" rule is in effect.

A simple trick: bash out stats without caring if they're accurate. Give the damn thing a turbolaser and a space move rate.

Let everyone else nerdrage and post "correct" stats. Wink

If anything take a land speeders stats and than attach a low power laser cannon to it, maybe 3D damage or so. But if my memory is correct, there was something like this vehicle in the adventure graveyard of alderaan. Try looking there for some stats you could tweak.

How have I never seen this before, and why are there no miniatures? This thing is awesome! Very Happy

Thanks, everyone. I don't have any problem throwing together some new stats - I just wanted to make sure it hasn't already been done. It sounds like it hasn't - which is surprising to me.

One check first - the Wookieepedia article mentions the FFG "Strongholds of Resistance" as a source. I don't have this book - I don't believe it includes stats for the vehicle, but if someone could double-check that, it would be appreciated. I wonder if that's where it was first named the LC-10bW, or maybe that was in the Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition.

In the absence of any official stats, here's a crack at what they might look like. I used Thx1138's suggestion and used the laser skiff in Graveyard of Alderaan (Pg. 29) as a start. While I don't think the vehicle would qualify as a Rebel CAV, I used the ULAV as a source as well.

Rebel Laser ice-cutter
Craft: Corellian Engineering Corporation LC-10bW
Type: Modified laser ice-cutter repulsorlift
Scale: Speeder
Length: 4 meters
Skill: Repulsorlift operation: laser ice-cutter
Crew Skill: Varies widely, but typically vehicle blasters 4D, repulsorlift operation 4D
Cargo Capacity: 50 kg
Cover: 1/2
Altitude Range: Ground level-0.5 m
Cost: 6,000 (after modification - used only)
Maneuverability: 2D+2
Move: 70 (200 KMH)
Body Strength: 3D front and sides, 1D rear
Weapons:
Twin Light Laser Cannon (fire-linked)
Fire Arc: Front
Skill: Vehicle blasters
Fire Control: 2D
Range: 3-50/100/200
Damage: 2D+2
Medium Blaster Cannon
Fire Arc: Front
Skill: Vehicle blasters
Fire Control: 2D
Range: 50-200/500/1KM
Damage: 5D

I based the speed and maneuverability in part based on the very short clip of the vehicle moving in the YouTube video of the Michael Parbot ESB documentary (see clip at 9:18 in). It looks like in real life they probably modified a snowmobile to operate it on set. It's movement doesn't look very convincing in that clip, and I'll bet that was why the vehicle wasn't featured more prominently in the film.

Any thoughts?

Looks like they included the vehicle in a Lego set:
http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/8083_Rebel_Trooper_Battle_Pack

But how this thing escaped being part of the Kenner Mini-Rig line is beyond me! They made a Mini-Rig for the MLC-3 (which never appeared on screen), but not for the LC-10bW. This is how liberty dies! Smile

IMO, this thing is more like a mobile platform for a heavy infantry support weapon like the E-Web. One of the weaknesses of support weaponry like that is that it has to be moved in sections and assembled at the firing position. Putting a heavy repeater or light laser cannon on a mobile platform goes a long way toward alleviating that weakness.

Interesting thoughts. It looks like, based on the Legends material, this vehicle was supposed to have been used to carve out the ice caverns at Echo Base. The repulsorlift itself looks like a small skiff. Perhaps they could swap out the cannon - using a laser cutter for cutting work, and swapping it for an infantry weapon for combat? I used a higher fire control and maneuverability with the thought that the platform was designed for fairly precise cutting work. Did you have any suggested changes as to the weapons, or any of the other stats?

There is mention in the Star Wars Sourcebook of "baffled blasters" being used as a cutting tool, but no details are provided. Since one of the definitions of "baffle" is "to restrain or regulate", it's possible that a light laser cannon could be regulated down to produce a cutting beam effect, as opposed to releasing energy in a single, powerful blast.

EDIT: This actually called a Beam Drill, not a baffled blaster. Not sure where I got baffled blaster from...

That was my son's very first Lego set! (which is what prompted me to then hand down my Lego collection from my childhood to him)

Nice! So based on your Lego version, do you have any stat adjustments? Should we reduce the Body Strength to 2D since the Lego bricks keep falling apart? Smile

EC Henry did a great video on his YouTube channel for this little vehicle:
