After some consideration, I have changed the classification of the Tau-Class from "Light Assault Shuttle" to "Storm Shuttle", as I previously considered.
My reasoning is that nomenclature matters, and that a ship's designated type should reflect the mission its designed for. "Assault Shuttles" are designed around space-based operations, either equipped with hull-cutting mechanisms to allow their carried troops to gain internal access, or with specialist troops like spacetroopers who have their own organic methods of penetrating a target's hull.
The Tau, on the other hand, is specifically designed to operate as either an assault shuttle or a light attack lander (ala the LAAT/i), which is a subtle but distinct difference from just "assault shuttle". Thus, a new term is needed. So, Storm Shuttle. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Container transport WIP

A commission piece with the concept that it’s a transport that can sort of double as an East Indiaman type armed ship.

I'm aware of it; I just haven't decided what I want to do with it. Part of me thinks it'd make a great Kleeque-Class Transport, but I'm still on the fence. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Fractal's version of the Mandator III is very nearly complete, to the point where he's published this image in the Discord. It's waaaaaay too big to link here, but it shows a Mandator III in formation with an Assertor, a Bellator and two Imperators. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It’s the early stages, but the initial renders are promising. Plus, he’s pretty firmly settled on sticking with the WEG design for the ship, as a fast, tough platform designed to shadow fleeing enemy capital ships until they jump to hyperspace. If it can stay close enough, it can get an accurate read on their jump vector, which can then be used to extrapolate possible destinations. The Carrack itself won’t be chasing to capture; the info will be forwarded to other fleet units who handle the scouting on their own. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I am so excited to see this. I know he had a rough start on a Carrack that he posted next to the WIP #1 of his Velox in 2016, so I held out hope he would come back around to it one day. It looks like he has a great start on it already. |

He mentioned that model in the Discord, and said it just looked too phallic for him to work with. He’s making design choices with the bow to minimize that similarity. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Yes, I have heard that from many. I never saw it myself until someone pointed it out. My biggest gripe with it is the 30 meter tall windshield, which it appears he has addressed with a reasonably sized bridge. |

Yes. This was the subject of some debate in the Discord, to the effect that the Carrack was supposed to be hugely compartmentalized internally, to the point where it doesn’t even have a landing bay. Since it was also supposed to be extremely tough for its size, having a massive, exposed bridge under transparisteel violated pretty much everything that was known about the ship. The bridge itself will break from the SWU norm and be located well inside the hull, under layers of armor. There is precedent for this on some of his earlier ships, like the Aiwha and the Indictor. Fractal’s thinking is that the Carrack is hardened to survive the bleedthrough effects of getting its shields deleted by a main battery direct hit from an ISD-equivalent platform. I mainly just like the fact that he’s keeping the Carrack true to the WEG canon, if not necessarily for the same reasons. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I am going to try stat out something here, the sizes and speeds, shields and that is not an issue, what I struggle with is the weaponry, how to count it, what is what on picture etc.
https://fractalsponge.net/?p=1096
Impellator Fleet Carrier,
I am going to need some imput on this, but I see this as a dedicated carrier version of a bellator/asertor size ship.
I would say this ship being a dedicated carrier can easily support a compliment of as much as 720 Starfigher size crafts, aka 10 Wings as well as service and support crafts.
I also see it as well armed but in no way a frontline warship.
Weapon wise I am thinking about mostly anti statfigter defenses with limited number of heavy guns to better emulate the carrier more so than a frontline ship, but if anyone has a writeup on this I would love to see it.
and any imput would also be welcomed |

Regarding Sutehp's mention of the TIE/ph Phantom, I have been doing some thinking about it, and I think I have the basis for a decent stat, including somewhat balanced rules for its cloaking device. Also, since Fractalsponge recently published his version, I'll be putting the stats here when I do finally post them.
A few key points:-The V38 will be the failed predecessor of the TIE/ph Phantom. Designed as an alternative to the Starwing XG-1, it featured missile launchers in place of the cloaking device. However, the design never got past the production of a prototype, as the Starwing was considered a superior design. Because Seinar only assigns TIE/- designations to production models (including limited runs), it was only known by its in-house model designation, the V38. The basic hull of the V38 was co-opted as the basis for the Phantom design due to its high power output (needed to run the cloak).
-While Fractal's version doesn't feature the wing-tip cannon from the official Phantom, I'll be including them as Blaster Cannon, providing a high FC / low D alternative to the two Heavy Laser Cannon. It will also retain the quad light ion cannon. This will be an entirely cannon-armed craft with no warhead launch capability (although a single Light Warhead launcher might be possible as an upgrade in later models).
-The Cloak will allow the Phantom to make surprise attacks (with the Stealth Bonus applied), with the Cloak dropping at the moment its energy weapons fire. It will remain uncloaked for the remainder of the round, and the pilot may attempt to raise the cloak in the next round. However, if he loses the Initiative roll, enemy pilots have a chance to attack him before the cloak comes back up. That's all I have at the moment. No timeline for when the stats will be posted, either. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
