Pendragon is a much stronger example. There characters have passions and personality treats that are measured, that can effect and control allowable character actions, and that mechanically change over time to reflect what characters did in play. So if you want your character to be honest, you have to behave honestly. If you don't you become less honest (and consequently more dishonest). If you are supposed to be trusting you have to act trusting. If you don't you become less trusting, and hence more suspicious. It's not for everybody, but it works wonderfully for the setting it's designed for and it strongly encourages playing the character according to the character's personality rather than the players personality. |

Yeah. So, a willpower roll it would be!
I personally would probably use something like a willpower check judiciously rather than arbitrarily.
Such as in the scenarios you mentioned earlier (is the character an extension of the player's personality?), I would use (or not) a willpower roll if the character was acting inconsistently for the sake of accumulating "rpg stuff." |

In my experience, players who are "serious" about the game will reliably make "in character" choices without regard for the opportunity cost. There are those casuals who show up once in a while and treat table top like agame of Diablo wherein LOOOOOOOOOOT and EXPEEEEEE are the only things they worry about.

Mine too.. They are also those who'd qualify for the "murder-hobo" moniker. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
