[So why even bother with the maximum bonus of +3D for 1 round when it's capped at +2D with a MAP. You are essentially getting the same bonus as the next step down with a higher roll. As I said, poorly written.

That is why I think that MAPs should apply to an ability (or skill) that is being enhanced by another. For example:

-Enhancing your DEX shouldn't apply a MAP to DEX actions (but should to any other action).

-Concentrating on a task should apply a MAP to the task (but should to all oher tasks).

-Lightsaber Combat shouldn't apply a MAP to Lightsaber skill (but should to everything else).

That combined with the simplied foce ruls mchanic mentioned elsewhere makes Jedi more like the ones in the Films. They can walk, chew gum, and concetrate on chewing gum at the same time, without the MAps makiing it impossible to actually chew the gum.

Those rules work for me.

I can just see all the baddie jedi going by this rule and all those pc's who thought that making them do lots of stuff to neuter them with maps SCREAMING cause of this.

No that should still work, just because the Jedi isn't getting a MAP to his lightsaber skill due to lightsaber combat doesn't mean he's not getting MAPs for his dodging or TKing of the grenades and his danger sense. It's just negating his MAPs by one level so they have to work a little bit harder.

Exactly. I7m not eliminating the MAPs, just 1 MAPs for one specific skill.

I like the idea that a power isn't automatically hamstrung simply by fulfilling its intended purpose. I agree with MAPs in general and in most particulars, but there are some instances where I feel the rules could've been applied much more clearly.

Would that mean, for example, Force Jump and Climb/Jump being the same action?

I think, as written, Force Jump is an action all by itself. However, Climb/Jump and Enhance Attribute would be the same action.

I guess amongst all these jedi fanboys i am in the minority here... I feel that MAPS are one of the few 'reigns in' on jedi becoming too overpowering and effectively rendering the other character types 2nd string players..

I'm also in favour of leaving MAPs how they are but I just wanted to show that atgxtg's conditional MAPs was a workable idea.

That said I also think your average stormtrooper shouldn't have any points in Jedi Lore because they're so rare so they shouldn't know all the ways to take a Jedi down without facing a few.

After all if you sell a Jedi's prowess well enough you might get people believing the hype.

While even elite won't have any jedi lore, they will still have been told by the various DJ under the emperor's charge how to take down enemy jedi..

Whats the reasoning to have Force Jump and Climp/Jump as separate actions while Enhance Attribut (STR) and Climb/Jump should be one action? Please note that Force Jump (to the best of my knowledge) do not exist as an official D6 power. There is a fan made version in the Force Powers compilation availible through links on this forum. There Climb/Jump is a separate action (making it three actions in total, even worse than enhance attr. and climb/jump).

While Fanboy sounds a bit derogatory, I will admit I like playing my Jedi character. And after 10 years of play and about 40-50 adventures most of which ran between 8-60+ hours of play, my Jedi PC is tough: Lightsaber 8D; Control 6D, Sense 6D, Alter 5D.

However, we don't allow enhance attribute or combat sense, and we have adjusted Lightsaber combat such that he has a total of 6D to allocate between his LS skill and his LS damage. As I said, he is tough, but the character is by no means unbeatable.

I will also note that MAPs are a reign in for all characters, not just Jedi.

For example, elite stormtroopers become less dangerous if using their helmet comlink, triggering MFTAS, or using HUD becomes an additional action.

I guess I hadn't fully read the description of Force Jump. If I were writing up something for this power, it would probably just be Alter instead of Control/Alter, so I would apply the same rule to it (After all, most of the C/A powers involve manipulating someone else's body, while this one is purely focused on the Jedi's own).

Atm I allow half Control as bonus to damage and half Sense as bonus to Lightsaber skill.

Im thinking of modifying this further, also taking into consideration that I think that lightsaber damage is to low to begin with.
'Standard' Lightsabers have a damage rating of 6D.
When having Lightsaber Combat activated the Jedi gets to add 1 pip do damage for each full D in Control and 1 pip to the Lightsaber skill for each full D in Sense. This will put more emphasis on the skill Lightsaber relative to Sense.
