I didn't find AP rounds in official books, only explosive slugs in Rebel Specforce Handbook that are good against heavy armor (+1D damage if target wears armor 1D or better).
In Cyberpunk 2020 AP rounds worked as following: armor value is halved, but damage that pass through is also halved. In SW RPG it probably wouldn't work well (due to soak roll), but maybe they could work like that: AP rounds have damage reduced by 2 pips, but armor is halved. |

Don't know how many of you have worn any kind of armor before, but I would imagine many people don't realize that in bulletproof vests there's a small insert that covers/protects the heart. Rather than ceramic (as it sounds like the military uses), for law enfocement it's often solid metal.
