Ok over the years I've lost too many characters to turning to the dark side because that 16.666% chance came up on the first D6 roll, so I've worked up a new mechanic based on difficultly rolls. basically it's a Willpower roll with a difficulty level tied to your DSP, modified by circumstance

1DSP Very Easy
2DSP Easy
3DSP Moderate
4DSP Difficult
5DSP Very Difficult
6DSP Heroic

Calling on the Darkside +1 Difficulty Level
Using a Force Point to serve the ends of the Darkside +1 Difficulty Level
Committing Evil at a Dramatically appropriate time +1 Difficulty level

I have a similar rule, where you roll your Willpower against the number of DSP:s +1D. This would mean that at 5 DSPs you would roll your Willpower against 6D target number. However, both the willpower roll and the 6D difficulty roll has a wild die.

On top of that the character frequently (ie during play) have to make the same check to avoid having the dark side temporarily take control of his actions..

One question, how does that work in game play. I know I'd get mad if a random roll lead me to lose control, do evil and get another DP.

Admittedly, that fits the movies etc, so I can see it being in the game, but is there a way for the character to avoid a DP from the effects of losing control?

Of course, the character should be avoiding doing evil and avoid the DP. However, from my deployments, combat leads to dark places so there will always be chances that even a good character gets a point.

Oh yeah, a slightly different question. What is the general process you all have to atone for a DP?

ZzaphodD, on a related note, if you use Willpower to resist the Dark Side roll, does atonement for DSPs factor in when the character increases his Willpower skill between episodes?
