Species max is the normal level.. Certain procedures or add ons can increase it for NPCS and PCs can go beyond it at the costly route of normal advancement but with the risk of it failing. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

(E.g. Royal Guardsmen, who have 5D Dexterity standard.) It's just difficult, extremely expensive and terribly time-consuming to improve attributes that high, because you have to roll below the maximum's roll every time you improve an attribute. |
Is that so, Fallon- species Max just refers to standard/at-time-of-creation max? I always thought that it was indeed a cut-and-dried limit, with the ability to reach above that for certain established NPCs owing to unusual circumstances (like Force/Dark Side influence for the royal guards). _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com

What Garhkal said.
It comes down to GM choice. I figure if my player wants to spend what will probably turn out to be 160+ CP to boost his Dexterity to 5D, that's okay. If he's saved up 40 CP four or five times, he's earned the right, in my book. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

Assuming they MAKE their rolls... As a player i 'won' the first test i rolled to inc one PC's Per from 4d to 4d+1 after saving for almost 2 months in game (1 month real time), failed the 2nd roll (which at least returned half the spent cp back).. Failed the 3rd roll, and when i had earned enough to try a 4th time made it... I called it quits there as all my other skills were getting way behind the curve having to save all those CP up... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Just saw this.. surprised i didn't respond to it before.. So you mean that if say i have Blaster 5d+2, and during firefight 1 i spend 3cp on it to ensure i hit some baddies... at the end of the session i only need to spend 2 more CP to improve it to 6d?
Does this not give your pcs more CP? Since they are not having 2 ways to spend it now? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
