Give this man a stone and a puny guy a pistol and see who has the best chance of taking the other out at 10m |
If the puny guy has a low strength he'll be more likely to go down from a lesser blow and the buff guy's high strength will also make him more resistant to damage within the confines of the game system. Even if the buff guy was unarmed he could perform one move action and then punch the puny guy in a single round.
On the other hand the difficulty for hitting someone with a gun at 10 meters is likely to be lower than it is for hitting someone with a stone at ten meters and with a gun you can probably take more than one shot but if you have to constantly pick up stones you're at a clear disadvantage.
If you're wanting realism then ideally the blaster or slugthrower should do damage related to how well you're hit, a glancing blow causes cosmetic damage and a solid hit will just kill the target 90% of the time.
A rock on the other hand would require a damage roll.
The problem is you're working within a game system.
I guess my point is that thrown rocks can and do kill people, while not as dangerous as gunfire I think the the advantages of gunfire are taken into account with: Rate of fire, range and skill requirements. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Focus fire can be a problem. Often my Esoomian wore a disguise that made him seem like a non sapient pack animal. Because of the size and scarcity of Esoomians it worked quite well.
The downside is that the other players will 'park' you outside the cantina and feed you with a nosebag while they go in and talk to the contact. It can be dull.
In combat however it's quite easy to 'panic' close to enemy lines and then actually start doing some surprise damage. |
that is one lienient gm who lets you get away with that disguise. For the disguise skill to work there has to be some reasoning for it. The 2 main pack animals we see are banthas and dewbacks.. Esoomians are no where close to either. As to the 'getting spooked' close to their lines.. Remember imps have comms in their helmets they can use to send info while they do stuff. As soon as you revealed your self, they would target you. And after that, the other 'teams would know' of said ruse. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

This situation is one reason why the current D6 system doesn't use STR to resist lethal damage.
According to D6 RAW, a strong Wookiee with a rock has a better chance of taking out an average human with a rifle. |

A 300m rock throw would be quite a feat.... _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Only when using the body point system. And, you still get to roll your armor and any special abilities. |

Nope. In SW D6 system, too:
Wookie with 5D STR and rock (STR+1) does 5D+1 damage. Rifle, does around 4D damage. A blaster rifles does around 5D damage. SO the Wookiee does more damage.
On the soak end of thingws, the aforementioned Wookiee with 5D STR rolls 5D to resist damage. THe average human rolls 2D to resist damage. SO accroding to SW D6 RAW, the Wookiee is going to shrug off most rifle bullets, and has a a 50-50 chance to shrug off a blaster bolt. Conversely, the human is probably going to be incapactiated from the trhown rock.

Depends on local gavity and atmopheric pressure.
Yeah, the rfile woulf have greater range in most circumstances, but there is no guarnteee that the range will play a significant factor in any given encounter.
Plus SW D6 rules make it much easier for the Wookiee to get within range even if being shot at by the rifle. |

I thought damage was the issue here... _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |
