Ah. My mistake. I wasn't sure how much of my notes on it came from the book, and how much resulted from my own adaptations. In that case, I agree that the power as written is basically useless against a single wound. |
DoubtBreak, your interpretation is interesting though. Perhaps one way to reconcile it would be to allow one to activate Control Pain on a round to address present pain and presume it is lasting for that pain (i.e., no need to "keep up"), but one could choose to "keep it up" in order to make reaction rolls against further damage taken in order to control such pain. I.e., with Control Pain, you would have two options:
1. Use it once to control current pain in a lasting fashion, but not otherwise "keep it up" and not suffer the MAP, or
2. Use it to control current pain but also "keep it up", suffering the MAP, but also be able to control pain against subsequently incurred injuries.
