Speaking of swoop racing, does anybody have some good ideas on how to streamline a swoop race? |

In the Junior Novelization "The Rise and fall of Darth Vader" it is said that although the force flows through him, he cannot manifest Force Lightening because his limbs have no connection with the living force.
Personally, I liked the idea earlier in this thread about Cybernetics in a Jedi's body causing problems adapting to the force, creating a void in it especially in ones own body.
Never played with any Cybernetic characters though, maybe soon depending on my players choices. |

I wonder how that would work if he did attempt it. I mean, he'd be able to do it in some fashion, but it'd be generated from his arm stubs or whatnot. If someone removed his cybernetics, he'd look odd but I imagine he could use Force lightning properly. But with the cybernetics still attached, I doubt he'd do more than zap himself and short out his cybernetic arms in a very threatening manner. _________________ Arek | Kage |

Well, there's inconsistency in that concept too, as Vader apparently uses Absorb/Dissipate energy to take in Han's blaster fire through his cybernetic bits on Bespin... if the Force wouldn't flow through, that wouldn't have worked and he'd just end up with a mangled cyberstump. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

In the first SW novel, "Splinter of the minds eye" he actually uses Force Lightening. But it was later stated that the Kaiburr Crystal amplified his power allowing him to do so for the only time in his life.
This takes place between ANH and TESB and *could* be the reason for Vader's increase in power.
it just goes to show you, when you call on the EU to back up a point, it is probably the EU that will end up killing you in the end.
Also... its weird to read a book that attempts to develop a love angle between Leia and Luke. |

I loved that aspect of the book actually. The characterization of Luke and Leia was some of the best representation of those characters in the written format... very true to their on-screen character, Luke especially.
I couldn't remember if Vader had used Force Lightning there or not, so I chose to avoid it Thanks for setting that straight. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

When I moved here and before I had a steady job, I re-read some books I'd been putting off, and that was on the top of the list. |

While i have rarely seen gms inflict the 'roll less than your cyber points no force use for you' aspect, i have seen many who do the 'gain a dsp have another' part... Heck one gm went so far as to give you an additional one PER 2 cyber points.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

And lets not forget that Luke uses a lightsaber all the time with his cybernetic hand so clearly the force can flow through cybernetics... at least according to the films. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

You mean that the force is channeled into the Saber through the user during combat? |

The mechanic is unclear (purposefully so I imagine. I mean who wants to have someone just explain where the force comes from ) but the force does augment someone's ability to wield a lightsaber and if some droids can get and use force points then I can't believe cybernetics are all that detrimental to force use. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.
