My observation concerning RAW Special Abilities and Story Factors has been, unless you played a unique alien, there isn't much to differentiate one human culture from another. This has always felt off to me. Especially as the SWU revolves around cultures with specific foci. A number of years ago I started implementing Special Abilities and Story Factors for different human and near-human cultures as I deemed appropriate.

Below is a Coruscant write-up with optional Story Factors. As being Coruscanti is more cultural than species, the Story Factors reflect this.

Quote:
Coruscanti
The inhabitants of Coruscant, a city-wide planet and the historic capital of the galaxy during the time of the Galactic Republic and the age of the Galactic Empire. Those who identified themselves as Coruscanti often had what some would consider a superior accent, with it being frequently attributed to propaganda broadcasts, rebel satire, and the Imperial elite during the reign of the Empire. Coruscanti were considered principled, able to verbally parry and weave in debates and politics.

    Story Factors (optional, choose 1):

    • Upper Levels Native: People from the upper levels are used to orderly spaces, clear rules, and visible security. They speak clearly and formally, pay attention to titles, and expect appointments and permissions to be respected. Politeness and personal presentation matter. They tend to trust institutions and see procedure as the normal way to solve problems.

    • Mid Levels Native: Mid-level residents live in crowded transit belts and mixed neighborhoods. They’re practical, friendly when time allows, and comfortable bargaining or “knowing a guy” to get things done. They switch tone easily between storefronts and back alleys. Authority is fine as long as it keeps traffic moving and doesn’t waste their day.

    • Lower Levels Native: Lower-level communities are tight-knit and cautious. Resources are scarce, so people rely on neighbors, local reputations, and quiet favors. Speech is short and direct, with local slang and level numbers used as quick markers of identity. Outsiders and officials are treated carefully until they prove they can be trusted.

    • Industrial/Special Zones Native: In the Works and other industrial stacks, life runs on shifts and safety rules. People speak over noise, use tool slang and hand signals, and respect competence more than rank. In special precincts—ministries, secure campuses, and similar—communication is crisp and full of acronyms. IDs and clearances are part of daily life, and polite formality masks constant checks and monitoring.
