I looked through and didn't see anything on this (aside from a brief thread on reddit).

How the *%$! do you pronounce "Duinuogwuin"?

Doeyn-oo-gwen?
Duin-ew-og-win?
Du-in-oo-og-win?
Doeyn-oog-win?
Doon-uh-ug-ween?
Something else?

Me? I don't think I have ever tried to pronounce it. I can't recall that they have ever appeared in my game.

I looked in The Essential Guide to Alien Species and the The New Essential Guide to Alien Species, the two sources I can think of that have pronunciations. Unfortunately, this species is not there. I tried. Sorry.

Ooof, I even have the first one, and forgot about pronunciations being in there. Thanks for the attempt!

I'm reasonably confident I've never used them in a game, but I have an idea for one - as well as a game that has a lot of D&D players in it, so I thought it might be amusing to have a "dragon" show up - and realized that I've never had any idea how the species name would be pronounced.

Not to mention that I've apparently been pronouncing several species names wrong for years, like Trandoshans, at least according to recent media.

I had one show up in a campaign as a mysterious NPC and teacher for a powerful jedi character. I pronounced it Doe-in-yoo-win. I have no idea if it correct though. However, as these are incredibly ancient sentiments, perhaps one would tell the characters that have been called many things over the millenia, but they are most commonly called 'Star Dragons'.

Oh gawds, we're talking about the Star Dragons? I confused the duinuogwuin with the dianoga. I thought we were talking about the sewer monster!

D'OH! Embarassed

...Well, in all fairness, their pronunciations are (probably) somewhat similar. Razz

A reddit thread I stumbled on while researching this seemed to largely agree that the proper pronunciation, after accounting for it being an alien dialect, a secretive race, and from a galaxy far, far away, was Steve.

I've always pronounced the sewer monster "DIE-a-no-Guh".
