So i was gobsmacked by the 'canon' EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate having a "Maximum atmospheric speed 1,200 kph[4]" .......

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Encyclopedia_of_Starfighters_and_Other_Vehicles lists seventeen (17) continuity gaffes/errors, so that pretty much kills its credibility imhho, yet it is still held up as 'canon'...

I'm thinking just chalk this up to the author/editor/publisher not knowing what they're doing...
& disney being too cheap/lazy to care...

Yeah, I don't really consider anything post George Lucas as Canon. Not that I don't enjoy the Disney films and serials... I just pick and choose what I want to retain and what I forget since so much of it feels like it it just made up as they go to meet a deadline.

I have this book, but I have most published SW resource books, for both canons. Several of them are ship focused. This one was never a go-to book for vehicles and ships. This book, like the four editions of the Character Encyclopedia, is a small kiddie version of a resource book. Flipping through it, I admit I thought it was cool for what it was (which isn't much). But I never depended on the info in it so never bothered to cross-check it for accuracy...

All books have errors, but that list of 17 continuity errors? That's... that's... unforgivable. And how you gonna misspell "Skywalker"?? How does an editor miss that? That's outrageous. Misspelling Grievous is not egregious, but it is still enraging to me personally because I am dyslexic and have trouble writing that word as it is–I don't need to read it written incorrectly. I think I'm gonna look through it and my other resource books more carefully, and if I don't have a strong reason to keep it I'll probably banish it from my library.

As far as the Character Encyclopedias, I have the first and fourth editions. The first one is pre-Disney. The fourth one is up-to-date with all the films so far.

We all have our own standards. So pre-Disney you take everything as-is, and then pick and choose from Disney? (Post-Lucas as an franchise era?) Are you just referring to films?

I was always "pick and choose," even in my childhood. I completely disregarded the Holiday Special after watching it. I read a lot of the original run of Star Wars comic books, standing in the grocery store comic section while my mom shopped. Some of them were better than others. When I got the RPG in '87, I never felt beholden to the Ewok and Droids TV shows–I distinctly remember my groups talking about episodes or comics they remembered here and there.

I enjoyed The Thrawn Trilogy but was really disappointed in Dark Empire. Then when I witnessed the birth of the EU, the shotgun wedding of DE to TTT, nothing really changed with my personal policy. WEG was hit and miss, with some stinkers. And so was the new series of novels.

As far as Lucas himself, I have a pretty clear line between RotS when he concluded his Star Wars Saga after commanding Clone Wars publishing to support the films, and TCW where he undid the continuity by moving Anakin's promotion back to a time of severe trauma and immediately forced him to take a padawan against the Jedi Code. They are two conflicting visions of Star Wars from Lucas, the second one clearly being motivated mostly by how to make the franchise as marketable as possible to sell it to Disney. (Of course I vehemently reject Greedo ever shooting though.)

For me, Disney-canon is 'pick and choose' too, so nothing has changed in that regard. I choose to accept Solo, Andor, and Rogue One into my personal canon, and some other bits of continuity.

My 2¢ on picking & choosing canon/headcanon;
I was highly inclusive of almost everything STAR WARS up to the New Jedi Order novels, which i & many of my friends hated with unforgiving, undying passion. Our EU/Legends-based rp campaign diverged further from EU/Legends-canon when they voted "NO!" on Yuuzhan Vong...

Disney™ STAR WARS™ defies easy categorization (for me).
The Force Awakens was a great start, and had me eager & excited for more! This was despite my extreme hatred of Kylo Ren, the Frankenstein of EU characters Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus, Ben Skywalker & Anakin Solo...
Star Wars: Revelations (2005 Video) Is this a fan film or what? imdb threw an fffff-ton of ads at me so i gave up.....
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) Not the EU story i & many other EU/Legends fans wanted, but it was good; i & most of the group i'd seen it with had enjoyed it.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) Where do i begin?
"THAT'S NOT HOW HYPERSPACE WORKS!"
*That* & so many other reasons, is an absolute mess that i Hate it... *that* is a convo i'll continue in another thread.....
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) While it wasn't quite what i was hoping for, it is the best off the new STAR WARS! Ron Howard gets it! The film is a pure joyride from beginning to end! I want to see more of this universe with this cast & creative team!!!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) it tries & does not...
The Mandalorian (2019– ) Looks great so far!
The Book of Boba Fett (2021– ) Looks great so far!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022) Looks great so far!
Andor (2022– ) Looks great so far!

You make some good points - I would like to ammendment my earlier statement. I consider ANH, ESB, and RotJ as Canon. TPM, AotC, and RotS is mostly canon, except thete is a big disconnect since the Clone Wars should have been 40 years before ANH not 20, but this is really hard to reconcile with the events of the movies... the Disney stuff is fan fiction fun, but I do not ascribe to any of it in my games. I pick and choose from the novels, completely disregard comics and cartoon specials, and keep most of the WEG stuff as is.

Star Wars: Revelations is indeed a fan film. At one time it was available on Youtube free, but this was a long time ago (2005) before Youtube became a streaming service offering paid content. I do not know if it is still available free. I never watched it myself, so I can not comment. As fan films go for Canon sake I was fond of Troops (and in one version of my Star War campaigns those events were in fact canon).
