I sometimes feel I'm walking a thin line with Toba. I want him to be gloomy and rude, but not to the point where he's just annoying everybody and being counter-productive. I sometimes feel I have to restrain myself a little and not make yet another sarcastic comment. That's why Toba's quiet right now. |

I actually left "tabletop" gaming a few years ago for a variety of reasons... but primarily because I wasn't getting enough benefit out of it (with my group) to warrant the time I was spending on it.
But ever since I found this site, I've been itching to get back into the game. In fact... a couple of weeks before I joined this PBP, I reactivated my Galaxies account. I wanted to be back in an open-ended Star Wars universe that much (at least this time, I knew what I was getting into with SWG).
I had also been playing with a plot idea for a Play-by-Email to run, but I wanted to make sure I had the time for it (kinda hard while planning a wedding).
Speaking of which... I'm probably going stop posting when my brother gets into town on Thursday. I won't be back until September 17th. I'll play for these next few nights but then Luey is either NPC or MIA. _________________ "WHERE ARE THE CHEETOS?"

what was the big flap about the Aussie's use of the term "mate." I saw some headline about the PM saying it was ok to use the term again. What's the story behind that?
I was fortunate enough to visit your fair land back in '91. Beautiful country. Stayed about 10 days in a small town in NSW called Maitland (if I remember the spelling right). Spent one day in Sydney.
I'd love to go back. Of all the places I've been it felt the most like home. It's probably the one place outside the US 'd seriously consider moving to. The only wierdness is the whole beach party for Christmas...but I think I could learn to deal with it. |
Calling people Mate was banned at Parliment house. The ban lasted 24hours as everyone complained about it and the PM cancelled it (he wasn't the one to put it in place) with stipulations. You can't call ministers or the Queen mate.
I know the town you're talking about. Sydney is a hole. I have some friends there, and that's the only reason I go there. Brisbane is great and very laid back, and Melbourne is great. (I lived in Brisbane for 20 years before moving to Melbourne). _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

Ah! So it wasn't some psychotic attempt to ban slang countrywide. It was just for the gov't? So, who was calling the Queen "Mate" anyway?
The Opera House was cool. So was the bridge. When I was there they were doing some construction across the river and, man, those winter sunsets were just awesome! |

Hey guys, looks like I'm going to have to start my hiatus a lot sooner than expected (i.e. "now"). Getting ready for the wedding is starting to take up a lot more of my free time and my fiancé is getting kinda stressed out.
So, I'll see you guys in about 2 and a half weeks. Sorry for the short notice. _________________ "WHERE ARE THE CHEETOS?"
