I LOVE D6 Space Aliens. Definitely my favorite WEG book from the Purgatory era. In fact the free Open D6 PDF that's out there was scanned and created by your truly. Let me take this opportunity to apologize that it is not a higher quality production. I ruined my original copy making the PDF as it is, and I had to buy a second physical copy for my RPG collection.

This page is one of the two guys I gave it to to host. The page has Aliens everything else that WEG owner Eric Gibson released to open content. Check it out! Get everything you want.

Most of the species in that book exist in my Star Wars universe. My original SW setting The Whills Nebula is a part of The Whills Nebulae Cluster, and part of cluster fairly near the Whills Nebula is "D6 Space". Get it? That's where all the D6 Space Aliens are from in my SWU. The feline species are an offshoot of my feline species, and the canine species are an offshoot of the Shistavanen (just like dogs are evolved from wolves on Earth). Sometime I want to use four turtle guys as mook goons that get easily shredded.

You rock! I didn't even know that Aliens book existed!

Edit: Man, those Lonthyn are a great species, they are definitely in next game.

I am bringing this thread back up for specifically how would you handle "Medieval time" dragons and their Breath weapons.
From reading most of the AD&D books dragons have 3 main types.
A stream like breath that is rather narrow But long.
A wideish cone but shorter range
And a cloud that hits the area around their head (green!)

So how would you make rules for them...

I see the stream/narrow cone of the black and blue (Acid and lightning respectively) as being akin to how most blaster shots are, but all in the path would need to dodge. Make the dodge roll and you avoid damage, or maybe only lessen it some.

I see the wider cones of the red/white dragons (Fire and ice respectively) more akin to how Deck sweepers are handled where the closer one is, the harder it is to dodge out of that cone. Or maybe that should be the reverse, where the further out and therefore the wider the cone, the harder it is to dodge out. BUT would the damage in the wider area be less than close in? Should it be??

We discussed the fire breathing abilities of Duinuogwuins (star dragons) here, if that provides some pointers.

Personally, I like the idea of a star dragon basically breathing plasma bolts (lightning), with the option of reversing the polarity to inflict ion damage (negatively charged plasma, as opposed to positively charged). I'm not sure whether or not RW physics would back me up, but the idea is there...

Also, in keeping with the original topic, and in line with the Basilisk from the D6 Space book, there is EU support for some of these creatures to exist (at least in legend) in the SWU.

There are at least five Star Destroyers named for mythical creatures: the Chimaera, the Gorgon, the Basilisk, the Hydra and the Manticore. If you port over the stats for the Basilisk as an actual creature, then there is at least some precedence for making stats for the other four creatures, as well...

Back when I ran Star Wars using RCR I borrowed liberally from 3rd Ed Dnd For my monsters. I think I used the Kalashtar and Bulette as Alien Beasts, just reskinned how I wanted them.
