Not necessarily just friendly situations; someone with obvious cybernetics could get a bonus to Intimidation or other skills where it would be advantageous for the NPC to be afraid or at least wary of the character. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Absolutely! Not just from the appearance, but perhaps the general lack of empathy displays... Been reading too many Cyberpunk RPGs lately.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your medical book Spince! _________________ RR

ok you have all brought up good points. help me to get my head around these 2 scenarios
Scenario one: As Raven pointed out a character decides to replace his hand with a replacement. Under the ruleset crmcneill proposed he would have one cyp thus getting a +3 penalty to his use of the force. Now saying at a later date he decides to upgrade to enhanced cybernetic that costs 2 cyp what is his penalty? I can see the player arguing that it would be the same as an non elective upgrade. So would his penalty then be +4 if you go back down to a standard penalty, +5 if one cyp is at modified and one standard or +6 both modified.
Scenario 2: is basically the same but reverse the character gets a enhanced cyber at 2 cyp then decides to replace it with a replacement. He was originally at a +6 penalty. Will he then go to +2 or a +3.

In the first, he would get no additional penalty from going from a needed replacement to an enhancement.
In the latter, since he is downgrading himself, i would lessen his CyP amt. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

For Scenario 1, I would probably do reduced penalty for the first CyP and enhancement penalty for 2nd CyP, since there are plenty of people with simple prosthetic hands that don't get them all tricked out.
Scenario 2, I would lessen the penalty associated because the character is trying to "normalize" himself.

I'll send you a PM with my e-mail, I'm packing for a move here, but occasionally I get some down time in front of my computer. _________________ RR
