Main IC Thread - Act I - Rumors in the Distance

Daryn reaches out with the Force as he senses the Trandoshan's intent to gun Lurk down. Focusing on the reptillian's weapon, he grabs hold of it with the Force, intending to rip it out of the bruiser's claws.

((OOC: Concentration, then Telekinesis. Daryn intends to end up holding the Trandoshan's weapon. CPs if necessary. If that isn't possible, then Daryn will at least use the Force to spin the Trandoshan around, so he's facing away from the party.))

*Assuming Daryn is successful in acquiring the Trandoshan's weapon*

Daryn opens his hands as the liberated weapon drops neatly into his grip. Pointing it at the Trandoshan now, he says to Kron, "That ship is not with us. It would be pretty stupid of us to cut off our own communications without a larger backup force present."

At this point, Daryn lowers the weapon, pointing it more at the Trandoshan's feet. "Now," he adds, "since all of us are now in the same boat, perhaps we might work together to see what is going on here." Daryn looks Kron right in the eyes. "I wouldn't have helped you earlier just to mess with you now. Keep in mind, I could have simply killed your friend here, then picked the rest of you off at will. We are NOT here to mess with you."

Daryn thinks for a second, then says, "A question, though. How do you know what size craft has landed recently, or that it is blocking communications to and from here, if you aren't allied with said craft? Who is screwing whom here?"

Dævon launches himself backwards, straight at the big lizards midsection in an attempt to blindly tackle him.

Shadow whispers into his mic with urgency, "everyone down, two STAPs inbound, I am targeting the northern, standby." He uses the sight on his rifle to target in and aim at the northern most STAP waiting to see what develops and being patient to get the best shot possible. (However, he will shoot first if it appears the droids have spotted any of his companions and are getting hostile.)

Daryn and Daevon
Though the Trandoshan had a strong grip, he was not ready for Daryn's use of the force. Even as the big lizard brought his carbine up to fire, his eyes grew large with surprise as his weapon is ripped forcefully out of his hands by an unseen force. A split second later, the Trandoshan is surprised again as Daevon crashes into his medsection, doubling him over and knocking him to the ground. Daevon lands on the Trandoshan and rolls to the side, leaving both sprawled out on the floor, just inches away from each other with adrenaline pumping.

Daryn catches the incoming blaster with two hands, but quickly sees he did not catch it in firing position. Before he can say anything to Kron, he notices both Kron and the other thug recover from the momentary surprise and reach for their own blasters. Daryn instinctively begins to duck, but then notices Lurk flip the table up on its side and into the laps of Kron and his guard.

Just then, everyone hears someone yell: "Incoming!"

Shadow
Shadow notices right away that Needles had not yet found adequate cover. "Newby," Shadow muttered to himself with mild disgust. Seeing that the STAP's were in range and about to fire, Shadow snaps off a shot quicker than he wants to. However, it does catch the lead STAP, causing the driver to take evasive maneuvers and careen into the side of the ravine. The second STAP lifts up out of the ravine and veers toward Shadow's position.

Daryn's training kicks in. "What've we got?" he yells, looking for the individual who called out the alarm. He then hollers out, "Lurk! Catch!" He tosses the Trandoshan's weapon to his teammate as he draws his lightsaber.

Watching the Trade Federation bombers, Bri'tan starts looking for a way to send a burst transmission to the others to let them know what's going on.

Shadow quickly repositions his rifle onto the other STAP while keeping one eye looking through the scope and the other open long enough to get a gross adjustment onto the target. (He will fire one round after the other for next few rounds until he is out of ammo or the droid is taken down, now that it is the only available target.) Shadow being very used to the sniping business calmly speaks while simultaneously firing at the new target, "Boss, only one left, lets get moving away from this position there is no way they are alone and someone is definitely going to hear this. Oh, and someone get Needles behind a bush or something."

Daryn
"What've we got?" Daryn yells over the commotion, but hears no immediate reply. He does notice the Bothan go diving over the bar, and assumes he was the one who had sounded the warning. Daryn tosses the blaster to Lurk and ignites his lightsaber. As he does so, he notices Kron and his guard bring their knees in, ready to kick the overturned table in an attempt to take out Daryn's legs. With only a second to react, Daryn also picks up the unmistakable sound of incoming fighters.

Bri'tan
Bri'tan eyes the path of the bombers and notices with dismay as they clearly are positioned for a strafing and/or bombing run on the village where Daryn and his team are. In fact, he figures they will be in firing range any second, if they aren't already.

Fingers flying over the keyboard, Bri'tan locates the source and strength of the communications jamming. Bri'tan works quickly, but thinks he has found a way to get a transmission burst through to Daryn. The only downside, Bri'tan realizes, is that the Trade Federation may well pick up the transmission, or at least be aware that he is sending a message.

Shadow
Shadow grins as Salvo replies: "Yeah, otherwise our medic is going to need a medic!"
Nihl immediately cuts in: "Cut the chatter!"
Shadow zeroes in on his target and sees the STAP open fire. It's initial shots blast into the ravine just below Shadow's position. Shadow waits another moment and then fires. His shot pings off the front of the STAP and doesn't appear to do any damage.

A second later, one of Shadow's squad mates opens fire, sending blaster bolts in the direction of the STAP, but not taking the enemy down. The STAP fires again and Shadow ducks slightly as the blast sails just inches over his head. Shadow takes a deep breath and holds it for a second, before pulling the trigger. This shot finds its home in the center of the pointed head of the battle droid pilot. The droid falls backward and the STAP veers right and careens into a tree, where it explodes in an orange ball of flame.

Scowling, Bri'tan sends the message, "Bombers incoming! Bearing (he lists the bombers current heading and eta.) Greased Nerf's location may be compromised." Glancing at the pilot's controls, he slaps the ships internal comm switch, "Kage! Watch the scanners and fire up the engines if my signal drew any attention! It looks like the poo-doo is about to hit the fan." Releasing the switch, he heads for the kitchen in search of some energy bars.

Daryn hears a whisper from the Force; glancing at Kron, he notices that Kron and his bodyguard are about to try and knock Daryn's legs out from under him. With a quick gesture, he summons the Force to defend him and thwart their intended action.

((OOC: Concentration, then Telekinesis. Daryn intends to bowl the table back over Kron and his bodyguard, hopefully taking them out of the mix for long enough to allow him to try and talk them out of attacking him, and joining forces to thwart the incoming attack.))

As soon as he sees the second droid drop and can hear enough after the explosion to detect any further inbounds he starts moving towards Needles position. "Nihl, I think we need to get out of here quick. Either lets get the ship moving toward us or we need to high tail it away from this position to the south edge of the woods for the pickup." As he passes Needles position he grabs him by his shoulder pad and pulls him down to a crouching run and continues south bound using as much cover as he can while still moving quickly. "We need to put some distance between that explosion and our position or we are going to get pummeled. Battle droids on STAPs don't just happen to be taking a leisurely drive through the woods cannons blazing without some pretty directive owners. I have no intention of figuring out what is going on. Salvo watch our backs." Shadow continues until he either runs into more trouble or approaches the south edge of the forest overlooking the meadow area.

Bri'tan
The Bith pilot stormed down the hallway leading to the galley, frustrated at the recent turn of events and wondering if these particular clients were going to be worth all the trouble it would cost him.

Bri'tan rummaged through the drawers, looking for more energy bars. 'Come on,' he mutters to himself, 'I know there are more here somewhere.' Finally, Bri'tan locates two energy bars and quickly peels back the wrapping on the first. Just as he is about to shove half of the bar into his mouth, Bri'tan hears and also feels the powerful engines of The Greased Nerf roar and rumble to life. Bri'tan lowers the bar for a moment as he imagines a whole wing of droid fighters pouring in on his location. Before he can reconsider gulping down the energy bar, he hears Kage's nervous and high-pitched squealing coming over the ship's intercom.

Daryn opens himself to the force and for a moment, everything seems to slow down. Off to his left, Daevon and the Trandoshan were grappling on the floor as each tried to gain an advantage. All other bar patrons had scrambled for cover or where in the process of running for the door. Just in front of him, Kron and his hench man kicked forward, trying to bowl Daryn over with the force of the table. The Jedi easily manipulates the nearby table and forcefully sends it back in the opposite direction.

Daryn's blast with the force arrived at the table at the same time as the legs of the others. Daryn immediately hears a loud pop and crack, followed closely by a loud howl of pain. Daryn glances down and sees Kron's guard screaming in pain and holding his damaged left leg. Kron, for the moment, is pinned by the table.

Just then, Daryn's bracer vibrates slightly, indicating that he has received an audio transmission.

Shadow
Shadow neither sees nor hears any other enemies approaching and quickly breaks cover. Slinging his rifle over his shoulder and with the case in his right hand, Shadow reaches out with his left hand, and pulls Needles along with him. The duo quickly makes it's way back along the path they had come. Shadow nods slightly at Salvo who is leaning against a tree, training his blaster to the rear, ready to provide cover.

Shadow runs a few more meters and passes Nihl, who was crouched alongside stump trying to hail someone on his com.

Turning on his heel, Bri'tan propells his ample bulk through the ship as fast as his feet will take him. Reaching the cockpit, he wedges himself into the pilots seat, looking over the cockpit displays as he straps himself in. As he sizes up the situation, he glances at Kage, "Kage. Check to make sure my last transmission made it through. If it did, send another message saying we'll be back for them in a couple of days. If not," The large Bith grunts softly to himself as he adjusts the straps on his seat, "Things could get interesting."

Daryn keys his bracer to play the message, keeping one eye on Kron and preparing for battle from any quarter.

"Needles, stay down and follow Nihl out," Shadow says as he drops him behind some cover next to a tree trunk and continues south. He moves until he hits the southern edge of the forest overlooking the meadow they had crossed to get here from the ship and scouts for movement or any other threat with rifle ready. He slowly moves into the best cover he can find and continues to watch before radioing back the situation he detects to Nihl and the others.
