The Imperial Army names their assault corps "Atrisian Corps", so they are probably some what militaristic, or at least haves a strong military history.

If a ship is 280 km long (or even 17 km), how would people live/get to duty stations/ escape pods/mess hall, et cetera?

I don't think that this use of tactics (it is not quite a full weapon system) is worth an entire adventure. Maybe used in an adventure, but it doesn't quite warrant the centre-of-attention-mission-obj ...
