I'd stipulate that, since TK as an Alter-only power is limited only to objects the Force user can see with the naked eye, they would be unable to perceive bullets or pellets, since they are moving too fast to be seen.

Instead, I'd say that it requires a new power, likely a Control, Sense & Alter one, that allows the Force user to use Telekinesis to deflect or hold bullets, possibly even blaster energy (in the same manner as Kylo Ren in TFA).
Neither is an unreasonable point of view.

I'm of two minds on the issue of broaden an existing skill vs. create a new skill. The latter is in keeping with what WEG has done historically. But on the other hand I'm just a wee bit tired of keeping track of the multitude of new Force Powers.

As a matter of personal aesthetics, in Space Opera I far prefer ray guns and blasters over any sort of contemporary type of firearms so I'm not at all inclined to treat bullets as being even one bit more effective than blasters.

I can see a place for both, where the base power of TK can be expanded to cover a variety of effects, so long as the base restrictions of the TK power are met, with other powers covering the use of non-line of sight TK (Sense component) or even greater feats.

I agree on the use of Firearms up to a point; I think having different varieties of weapons adds some flavor if used judiciously. However, projectile weaponry specifically designed to foil Jedi characters should be as rare as Jedi are, and only in the hands of high-end bounty hunters or elite Jedi-hunting stormtrooper teams.
