So this is the main NPC for a campaign I am making. His main job is to help the party disrupt a secret project by KDY to make the Imperial I star destroyers Turbo lasers stronger, Giving them a boast of +2D for damage, I want to see what people think. I see him sort of like a lesser known Han Solo or Lando but still a little famous.

Capsule: Trax Therin is a smuggler who works for the Rebel Alliance and has many contacts inside major criminal organizations and had former contacts in the Income Corporation and even Kuat Drive Yards. Trax was a former Cadet at the Imperial academy and had classes with the infamous Han Solo. Called TT by his friends and Associates, Trax always seems to be lucky getting cargo past Imperial Customs. The truth is that a few of Trax best Friends from the Academy entered both the Navy and Imperial Customs and they always alert him to hotspots so he can stay away, and they also act as intel for the alliance via Trax. While some people in the Alliance would balk at the thought that Trax gets tips from Imperials he knows his success speaks for himself. While Trax flies the ship alone, he always has R2-G7 with him who has been with him for many years. Trax always wears a long black trench coat.

Lol make him a shard in disguise. Have the ship wired with shard adapted commlinks for remote control.

Put in charge of all the repairs of the Therin’s Legacy as well as the gunner when needed, R2-G7 is fearless in the face of danger and will do whatever it takes to protect his friends. Once colored the Standard Black, R2-G7 has been repainted Red and Green.

Don't know if R2-G7 being a shard but anything could be in that internal cargo space. Wink Wink. And Trax has a concealed beacon call in his comlink wired to his biometrics.

Sometimes Trax uses the guns while R2-G7 flies the ship, you know like when he has to make a quick and explosive get away.

What you mean that shooting my blasters to the rear will not make the ship go faster, i was just trying go faster not shoot the customs ships following me.

His stats seem kind of high.

21D worth of attributes AND 86D worth of skills.

What sort of skills will the PCs have compared to him?

They have been working together for a few years so I assume that they have had quite a few adventures. to answer who they will go up against, I have added a new Dark Jedi character guarding the research facility. Anyone who goes up against a Dark Jedi should be scared.

They are also just a drop off and pick up group for the infiltrators, he is pretty well known in certain sectors.

Working together for a few years might explain 18D in attributes and say 14d worth of skills, but not 80+ That amount of skill imo would show at least 30 years of continual adventuring, just based on the amount of time he would have to spend to improve each and every skill.

You also didn't explain the skill breakdown for the PCs who will be adventuring with this guy? If they are say in the 10-12d skill region, he is imo still way to potent, as he will effectively outshine them in most areas.

My players have been playing for a few years and their character have gotten pretty good, I had to make NPC more near their level. Some of my players don't take some NPC seriously because they are weaker then them. With R2-G7 I envision that the programing quirks in him allows him to acculmate skills much quicker than other droids with a reduced cost, I should have added that as a special ability. Since Trax had Imperial Academy training, and Cardia training not one those other academies, I take that he got some of his skills from there. I like to think of the back ground of the character and envision what that would do for their stats, not just looking at species or planet of origin since making a good character requires creating a good back story. If they can't back up what's in the story, then what's the point. Looking at them though, I could see how they might be overpower so I might have to tweak that a little more.
