Sorry about technical problems. I don't know what's going wrong, but, like Cheshire, I will happily email copies to anyone who asks.

My email is dougred4atgmaildotcom

Thanks a million, guys. I'm really looking forward to seeing it! Smile

So I had a 4shared account, and can now view the document. But is there any way to copy and paste it (or move the PDF to another folder)? It still tends to crash Google Chrome for me, and (near as I can figure) only allows me to view it online.

This looks interesting! I'll have to find a way to use it in my campaign.

The local pirate lord needs a unique ship...

Just sent you copies in 3 formats. Lemme know if it doesn't get through.

It looks pretty good so far. Sort of like the D20 Starships of the Galaxy rules.

I do have a problem with the sensor rules though.

Basically I think that the 5/10/20 range increments combined with the fixed cost for power makes it most cost effective to expand the passive range and do away with scan and Search ranges.

For example, something fairly typical:
Passive 10/0D [200 credits]
Scan 20/1D [500 credits]
Search 40/2D [800 credits]
Focus 2/3D [1100 credits]
Total Cost: 2600 credits

could be replaced with
Passive: 40/2D [1400 credits]
Focus 3/3D [1200 credits]
Total Cost: 2600 credits

I think the cost for sensor STR must also be adjusted with the sensor mode (passive, scan, search, focus) in order to make scan and search sensor modes cost effective. MAybe double the power cost for passive sensors and halve for search. It should be harder and more expensive to put together a high STR passive sensor array.

Does that make sense?

Sensors are taken pretty much verbatim from Krapou's system. If you want them more expensive for more powerful systems, you could make designers re-buy that 40/2D for every mode, regardless of whether it's any better than passive...

I figured the sensor stuff was a carry over. The reason why I noticed was in our campaign a player wanted to swap out the sensors on his freighter with better ones off of another freighter. , so we started looking at the various design options.

IMO it really should be more expensive to squeeze more power out of a passive sensor, since it isn't emitting a signal, so the enhancement must be in more sensitive devices to pick up the emissions of other objects.

When I get a chance I want to try building someof the standard desins with your system to see how close the costs come to the RAW (or even D20 RAW).

Yeahy I suspect it should hold up, since it's similar to the D20 Starships of the Galaxy method.
