Just curious what people remember about their favorite campaign and favorite character creations.

My absolute favorite character that I've ever come up with is a female, human Jedi, named Jerona Quinley. Pre-hero status, she was a galaxy-class athlete in a co-ed sport which our GM called "grav-ball." It's roughly like a cross between rugby, soccer and basket ball. Even without using the Force, she was like the Michael Jordan of her game. However, since birth, she was raised by a darksider for a very specific purpose.

Long before Jerona was born, her father (Naaman Quinley... I like to use my screen name in stories), confronted a fallen Jedi named Orn, who attacked him. Naaman killed the Orn in combat.

Orn had been secretly training his niece, Jaxa in the ways of the Force, and she soon found out that he was dead, and who killed him. So she plotted revenge for 10 years. When she finally confronted Naaman, she killed both him and his wife, who was 9-months pregnant at the time. Jaxa cut the baby out of her mother's womb and raised her as her own, planning to train her to be the perfect weapon to hunt down and slay as many Jedi as possible (in effect, Jerona would have been a girl version of Darth Maul).

Jaxa named the baby Alexia and trained her to focus her anger and emotions into victory. Jaxa was deliberate about not teaching Alexia to consciously manipulate the Force until the right time, so all of her powers were ones that naturally developed as manifestations of her passions. In effect, she was fairly advanced in control, with some very rudimentary sense skills.

Jerona was so skilled and powerful an athlete that she was the number 1 draft pick as soon as she was of legal age to compete professionally (she did not even have a chance to apply for scholarships to any academies or institutions of "higher learning").

However, there was a failed Jedi--not a darksider per se, but definitely not the paragon of peace and justice that we would expect a Jedi master to be--who had developed a gambling habit, and grav-ball was his favorite sport. He immediately detected Jerona's potential and after the game, he followed her vital signature to the infirmary where she was unconscious, recovering from an injury sustained during play. There, he confronted Jaxa, but she fled, leaving Alexia behind.

The old master, named Jerukk (I picture him looking like Bruce Willis) took her as his padawan, training her to be a true Jedi, redeeming himself in the process. Alexia would often ask what happened to her "mother" (Jaxa). Jerukk had visions of where Alexia had come from, but he did not reveal it to her right away. He instead taught her the basics of farseeing, and his last instructions to her were that she should meditate on her father in order to realize what happened to her mother. He did not live to see her reach Knighthood, dying at the moment that Jerona became a PC. The first thing she did was meditate on her father (whom she never heard mention of). She had a vision of her actual father and pregnant mother having a conversation about what to name her (Naaman wanted to name her after her mother, Jerona). Then the vision changed, revealing the battle between Jaxa and Naaman, and Jerona saw herself being extracted from her mother's womb by the evil monster that was Jaxa Leone. It was at this point that she changed her name from Alexia Leone to Jerona Quinley.

Jerona's training was completed by Aalya Secura (in a very non-canon story arc), and her trial of Knighthood was a confrontation with Jaxa.

Since becoming a Jedi Knight, Jerona has killed the Grand Inquisitor (who was tracking her), defeated (but did not kill) the High inquisitor, who was tracking baby Luke and Leiah, and converted an Emperor's Hand who was actually working as the Emperor's "spy" within the Inquisition (one can never be too careful... lest he lose his power). It was this Hand who actually killed the High Inquisitor on Palpatine's orders after he failed to defeat Jerona.

At the moment, Jerona is stuck in deep space with a small pre-rebel task force who had a hyperspace mishap where they are being harassed by a pirate gang who uses that uncharted sector as their base. The empire is particularly concerned with taking down these pirates, and it's looking like a Jedi, some rebels and the empire will be working together to take out this threat to Dantooine sector.

I would say my favorite PCs was among my oldest, Caliphny 'Cali' Anestis (people keep telling me they don't like the name though). I think she was my second or third character I ever played, and the first cross-gender roleplay I've done, and she was among the longest lasting PCs I ever had - 2 years at about 10 hours a week.

Cali was an Omwati born in space, aboard massive refugee transport, and eventually ended up an orphan on Corellia (I never explored any stories involving her parents or origins). She survived on the streets of Coronet city with a friend, Gail Sember (npc). Together they made a living by stealing property and selling it off along with information they stole- Cali was the thief and Gail the fence/infochant.

Play started with Cali as a very simple, almost stereotypical character. She was a thief with an exaggerated, bird-like fascination with shiny objects. Her earliest adventures had her taking on increasingly dangerous robberies (much of her earnings went towards Gail and their sprouting illicit information, arms, and equipment business - which in-turn supplied Cali with new weapons and gear).

Eventually Cali got mixed up with a new crowd of insurrectionists who managed to to win her over. Their efforts started small, but quickly grew as Cali used her business contacts to fence off stolen goods for equipment, leading to the creation of small privateer fleet. Small attempts by the empire to close down their operation failed and ultimately allowed them to add new military vessels to their fleet, including corvettes, gunships, small carriers, starfighters, and even a couple of strike cruisers. In response the empire sent a task-force to hunt them down and destroy them. The task force had numerous capital ships and was lead by a new Imperial-II Star Destroyer. The ensuing battles were harsh and many friends were lost along with over half the privateer fleet, but they culminated with the destruction of the Star Destroyer and the salvage of much of its support fleet.

After that victory, the insurrectionists would nominally join up with the fledgling Rebel Alliance, and continue much as they have. Cali and some of her closer surviving friends would attempt to aid the rebellion in other ways, focusing on infiltration, slicing, and sabotage. Their information gathering network and systems would become second only to the Bothans and the empire by the time of RotJ.

With the earnings from their previous privateering efforts, their new infiltration efforts (including the slicing of more than a few banks), and some well timed business choices, hostile take-overs, and industrial espionage, Cali, Gail, and their friends' business, Corellian Custom Arms (CCA - along with its many shell companies, official fronts, and subsidiaries), had grown to impressive proportions. More significantly, it secretly owned controlling shares in both Merr-Sonn and Blastech. Over the next few years, they were able to direct significant funds towards the rebel cause, increase costs for the empire, and ensure that the empire was receiving increasing amounts of faulty equipment and weapons.

In the early years of the New Republic Cali, her friends, along with their fleet of ships, would battle and subdue many Imperial Warlords and remnants. This later fighting would allow them to capture a super-star destroyer among many imperial and victory star destroyers.

Also during most of that time Cali was becoming aware of her talents with the force, slowly over the years she would hone her force talents, and included adventures to find mentors, jedi knowledge, and even to find the perfect crystals for her lightsabres (she would learn to dual-wield two small, yellow bladed sabers). By around the time of the Dark Empire story line, Cali, along with a mere couple of friends, were the sole surviving members of the original founders of CCA and thus among the richest people in the core worlds, She controlled one of the largest fleets in the galaxy, and she possessed no small talent with the force (which she kept secret - if those blades lit up, the only surviving witnesses were likely to be friends, or well bribed)...

We closed the campaign on the verge of a clash between the PCs fleet and that of the Cloned Emperor. It was largely agreed that it had grown well beyond our expectations and was time to move on. In game time, Cali's story stretched close to 25 years from when I started playing her... and undoubtedly messes with a ton of canon material. I played her back in 1997-98, I think, and I have forgotten more than I can remember (so forgive any massive plot holes).

In the years following, Cali has appeared as an NPC in both games I ran, or in games run by her original GM, usually as a wealthy patron looking to hire the PCs, or some other relatively minor cameos. Those players who weren't in the original game rarely ever learn of how influential an NPC they just met... CCA, on the other hand, has appeared in just about every game I have run, usually as an information brokerage, then later as an arms dealer.

If there is any one thing I can say about Cali and her game, it was a singular experience, which had its up and downs. I've never had another character who I have so thoroughly explored than Caliphny Anestis.

It's funny, because my longest played character was also named Calli (but with two "L"s).

My favorite character is also where my user name comes from: Skyler Masters. He started out as a hybrid between the Young Jedi and Quixotic Jedi templates. He was the second SW character I ever created; I ran him with 3 or 4 other characters I'd created, in a group with 3 players, with a number of PCs each. He is the longest running character I've ever had. The group he was in operated in the Outer Rim; they started out as a ragtag bunch of misfits and miscreants...but built themselves into a force to be reckoned with. They ended up appropriating several heavy freighters, a Nebulon-B frigate, and other support ships, as well as fighters. A couple of the heavies got converted into carriers, and from there you can imagine their adventures. They had a run-in with Darth Vader and one of the Inquisitors, as would be expected, and managed to escape that particular trap.

I played this character for over a decade, taking him into a completely EU adventure, one which expanded on the Force beyond anything Lucas or any of the novel authors have even hinted at. I had a lot of fun with this guy; honestly, I wish I still had the opportunity to develop him further.

Trapper. Created the character for one of Jamfke's PbPs as a former ARC Trooper turned anti-Imperial Merc with the backstory being he'd fallen in love with a Jedi and they'd concieved a child together. At the time I created him I think Republic Commandos Triple Zero had just come out but I hadn't read it yet so I didn't know that the same thing was happening in one of the novels, though with a Republic Commando instead of an ARC Trooper. When Order 66 came Aton (pronounced A-ten) disobeyed the order as he saw it as illegal and he helped get Zonara and their unborn child off planet. But he was gunned down and left for dead by the clone troopers while doing this. He awoke in a hospital ICU a week later to find Zonara had managed to escape and sent a doctor to pick him up. She'd also left him some replacement gear. It was at that time that he became Trapper, selecting the name because that's what he planned to do to those who he now saw as traitors to the Republic.

What really made him my favorite was I did this huge dream sequence for the character, dealing with how he goess from being A-10, to Aton, to Trapper. I'd spent a little time typing up this story on one of the word processor programs on my computer at the time just so I could post it in game during what was a lull period in the adventure. Took at least two to four days to write this big background story that ended up needing two posts to actually post the full thing that runs 29 pages on the word processor. I mean it's more charcater development than I put into him when first creating him. And after doing that I ended up starting to develop him seperately from the PbP. Started developing a sourcebook for him based on that background. It's never been finished as it went from being a single soucebook to a set with some of the elements originally developed for it growing into their own thing.

I've had a couple of memorable characters. Traest Alcibiades started off as a data broker character that I just kind of threw together at the last minute, but he started to take on a life of his own almost as soon as gameplay started. Currently, that game is on hiatus as the GM recovers from illness. Traest was left in a bit of a cliffhanger -- he wound up at a brothel, intending on recruiting some of the employees as informants. Instead, he's found himself in the middle of an unwanted foursome that he can't charm his way out of. I've asked the GM to be gentle.

Probably my favorite character, though, is Terrick B'Kror an artist-cum-smuggler who worked for the Black Sun. After a nasty incident with a rival, Terrick decided to become a Republic informant and spent a long time reporting the activities of his Vigo to a handler he called "Mother." He kept it from his crew for a long time and he only told them when Black Sun got suspicious. He's currently living on a casino pleasure ship called the Golden Scarab and is in witness protection.
