True, but most detonator kits won't be made for longevity of use, but quick ops.

It's the longevity of the operator not the longevity of the equipment I'm concerned about. Personally I would want to be well outside the blast radius - probably more than 30 meters - before tripping the switch. Laughing

That would not be a kit you purchased or was assigned but a mission specific created by operator kit.

Just for you all, here's the rulings and kit our game came up with.

DemoCord 5 credits per 10m / avail: 1, R
- Democord is the standard for most small scale demolitions as the fuse line can be set off by standard incendiary means or by linked connection to a detonator/commlink via a Very Easy/Easy Demolitions roll.

Crono Fuse 10 credits / avail: 1, R
- The standard Crono Fuse can be set to any number of game rounds or minute intervals.

Remote Fuse 20 credits / avail: 2, R
- The standard Remote Fuse has a range of up to 5km. Though long range models are available for more dangerous blast areas, but are more expensive (20km range - 50credits - 3, R avail)

Model: Merr-Sonn Demolitions Accessory Kit 2a
Type: Standard Grade Demolitions Kit
Price: 750
Avail: 3, R
Contents:
DemoCord (100m), Crono Fuse (20), Remote Fuse (10), Universal Detonator.
- The Universal Detonator can be linked to any standard democord or keyed to trigger any number of remote fuses over encrypted channels.
A Very Difficult Communications roll is required to decrypt and intercept a Universal Detonators signal.

Just our thoughts on the subject of improving the mechanics and visual of your everyday explosive occurances.

Well, as you can only throw a thermal like 12 meters theres no precedent in SW of safe distances.. Laughing

Well the short throwing distance would tend to argue for a longer det cord. Wink

Mining, building demolition, road construction, and civil engineering in general seem reasonable areas. Also agriculture on some rural colony planets where farmers need to remove rocks or tree stumps from their fields.

Indeed.

EDIT: Forgot to post that our group house ruled that any standard commlink can be wired to a charge to work as a remote fuse with a moderate roll and then detonated via remote or commlink. But only for charges that can be electrically detonated.

preciously - which happened once already in our game. I tried to blow an imperial shuttle only to find that all non imperial coded transmissions were jammed :S

I was more on about you set it, tune it up and get ready to leave then someone watching jams all freqs (or broadcasts) which sets the bomb off1
