Perhaps it should be based on sensors. for Han and chewie, it seemed that they didn't monitor the sensors.. till it was too late.

Id say that any combat warship would have sensors picking up on the targeting system trying to get a lock-on. Maybe the Falcon, fast as it is, just didnt have those warning systems.

But, as pointed out, its more or less fruitless to use the movies to confirm how things work in the game. It didnt suit the plot to have Han pick up on the tractor beams, so he didnt... Laughing

From how the films show it, i am not even sure a tractor beam has 'targeting locks;,...

True, but the films also doesn't show if they have bathrooms. Anywhere. Some stuff we just kinda have to assume exists, and given the ranges involved in space combat, I think some sort of targeting lock would be a necessity.

Since the DS is so friggen large, perhaps their tractor beams "aoe of beam, is so darn large, they don't have to use a targeting lock.. just place it in that area... yea that one over there!

LoL. Yeah, that could be true. But speaking for myself, I think I'm going to stick with the idea that tractor beams do have to lock on like normal, but have to pick which scale bracket they're going to fire in.

Yeah, there has to be a lock of some sort or it would be unfair for the tractee(?)... tractor beamee(?).... he who is tractor beamed.

As for Han and Chewie not noticing.... the plot said so. Besides, we're arguing about a big hairy 600 year old creature who can't detect a tractor beam.... and no one worries about if he sheds? C'mon, man.... Laughing
