Less then 24 hours until re-enfocements arrive. you have made a splash upon arrival, and made some waves there after... have you gone unnoticed?
Base Front

Where are you planning to put your emplacements!

Repaired items:
  • 3 E-Webs (one modified for Tiny)
  • 4 Anti Vehicle Weapons
  • Entrance defense laser cannon
  • 2M Shield Generator
  • 7 Generators (one Modified for Tiny)
  • last 2 generators are being worked on today, will be done by supper time

ooc: Assuming everything that Rownn says here is understood by everyone.

Garolf looks over things, considering where to place emplacements.

(OOC: Tactics 3D+2. Looking to have Garolf get an idea tactically speaking of where things may be placed so he can suggest it to the others as everyone puts in their input.

Right now my personal thought would be to set E-webs up if possible to allow for crossfire if needed. Maybe have the crossfire point converge at the top end of their medium range. That of course is the two free E-webs and not the one adapted for Tiny, with Tiny being able to move about it's placement is a bit different. But perhaps it should be located halfway between the two to start.)

Garolf knows that he will have built a bunker if they are to put them in the path of the avalanche, unless they plant to set it off them move the e-webs...

He also knows that ships will have to be coming into the base, and have a LZ somewhere that he has to setup and defend.

ooc: one on the wild, so stating the obvious Wink

OOC: Random non-Tiny civilian with a few ideas

"Sir that repaired headhunter might fit inside some of the wider passages and with it's sheilds it would make a pretty effective choke point. If we need to get it airborn to take out Vong ships we might be able to do it using repulsorlifts but it'd take some time and a clear route."

"It looks like we have two mobile sets of heavy firepower in the form of that massive cyborg and that AT-PT. The cyborg seems to spend all his time with that Jawa anyway, why don't we pair them up, perhaps they can be set up behind the portable shield for another choke point. We can have one of our less gun confidant team members concentrating on raising the sheild when we have incoming fire and lowing it for outgoing fire."

"As the LZ must be defended that's where we've got to put the bulk of our firepower. Most of the heavy stuff should be there civilians can be kept in the mountain. We've still got explosives in some of the passages so that should help stop the Vong from pushing too deep but honestly I think the best thing we can do to keep the non-combatants safe is to advertise where the fight is and trust that the bulk of the Vong forces will focus on that."

Rownn nods to the suggestions. "[We have to keep the landing zone secure. To do that, we need solid defenses. If we place those two E-webs at the mouth of the hangar entrance and have Tiny and Hrar as roving firepower I think we'll be best off. We can use one of the shield generators to protect the E-web gunners. Our best bet is to prevent the Vong from entering entirely, not limit how far they penetrate. If they get in, we've already completely failed; the New Republic forces won't have their supplies and there will be no transport to evacuate the refugees... we simply have to prevent that from happening, period.]" He looks at the list of equipent. "[It looks like we have plenty of guns to defend the entrance, and the plateau outside the entrance should be adequate for a landing area.]"

He thinks a moment, "[I'm not experienced here, however, these are just my thoughts.]"

"What about that ship that you all arrived in. That seems to have a lot in the way of firepower and if it's parked in front of an entrance with it's sheilds on it should make quite a door. It'll have to be ready to take off in case the Vong bring in those things they use as ships but perhaps it can be covered by some of those weapons we got fixed. You're right though if we collapse any tunnels then we can't get everyone out when the evacuation happens. Perhaps we can reuse those charges somewhere else."

"Do we want to consider collapsing all other entrances to this place so we only have one area to defend?"

"The Second Chance will take days to get in the air again, and is currently under a stream bed. We need to keep the entrance clear so the New Republic ships can get in. Collasping the rear tunnels would increase defense, but also cuts off potential escape routes. It's an option that will have to be well thought out."

OOC: I'm pretty sure we got the Chance back to the base. As I recall it almost fell out of the sky but we got it back. We've been using food from the Chance to keep Tiny well fed without letting the civillians starve.

Hrar shakes his head and says "Better to just fix ship faster, not waste time on tricks. would take at least 30 minutes to rig it up properly" and he goes about fixing the ship as fast as he can, getting help from the rest of you, some just little as passing him tools.

Tiny quickly gets relegated to stand watch on the ship, to keep an eye out for more Yuuzhan Vong patrols. His large mass was just getting in the way in the cramped confines of the ships engineering section. Hrar gives him instructions to start clearing out the debris from the ship

an hour passes and Hrar certifies the ship to fly... barley. Tiny has used his great strength to easily clear the ship in much less time then most would have taken and everyone gets on board. Jo runs through a preflight and lifts off shakily, everyone holding their breath. Jo slowly accelerates toward the rear cave you came out of, as he doesnt think it will make it all the way over the mountain.

The ship drops a few times, as the repulsor-lifts sputter and barley hold together, everyone's lunch come sup into their throat each time as you dont want to crash, but you make it to the cave enterence.

Jo brings it into the cave as far as he can, when the repulsors finally die, sending hte ship crashing down to the ground below. the rest of the systems sputter and die, but at least the crew is within the safety of the cave now...

OOC: We got it back to base but I can't recall if we spent any time fixing it.

"We've got those escape cars too, I'm not sure if we can find another use for them but they go pretty fast."

"One advantage we may have with the Chance," Garolf says, nodding at Rownn, "is the concussion missile tubes. Now as I recall, we pulled her into the entrance bow first so most of her weapons are pretty useless. But she does have those rear tubes. If they still work, someone could use them as heavy artillery until they run out of missiles. It could give us some gover fire at that entrance."

Garolf then turns back to the map, contemplating what's been said.

"If we plant the E-webs outside the hangar entrance we'll either have to do so after we set off the avalanche or we'll have to build bunkers to protect them. Rownn's suggestion of placing them in the mouth of the hangar makes sense as we have to keep the Vong from getting inside. But what about the anti-vehicle weapons. We've got four of them, might be wise to have at least two in the mouth as well.

"Perhaps the question should be where do we place the LZ? do we place it outside the hangar where the avalanche could possibly destroy it or do we place it somewhere where we end up using the escape tunnels to bring the supplies in. We're going to have to defend it whereever it is and that means we may not be able to place all our guns in one place. With four anti-vehicle guns we can place two at the hangar and two at the LZ if it's not near the hangar. But we've then got to consider how many of the E-webs we have defending the LZ."

(OOC: How large across is the mouth of the hangar entrance? Roll tactics again for the same reason as stated above, this time Garolf has heard some suggestions so he can take those into account in coming up with his own)

"We may have been hasty with the avalanche plan; we didn't think through the consequences for the greater goal of our mission, only of what it meant for defending the refugees. We may have to scrap that part."

OOC - right, forgot about the ship... think Vong forgot about it sticking out of the mountain too when sending out his Yuuzhan Vong patrol and our discoverability Razz

(OOC: No, the Chance is on the opposite side of the mountain from the hangar, stuffed in the rear entrance to the base.)

"We hauled rocks for a circumstance that did not happen. It's just not needed anymore. It kept us busy for a while though."

ooc: The side of the mountain is a steep grade, so most of it is not suitable for a proper landing (a hover a drop off is not out of the question). There is a bit of a landing in front of the cave that is easier to land on, but mostly below those rocks you have setup in an avalanche is a nice steep slope.

Garolf keeps his head bound and keeps silent, wondering if there's going to be another outburst.
