This cracked me up.
And inspired the notion of a comedic smackdown match between Random's Jar Jar avatar and 3B3-21.
Attack of the Clowns: a pun-ishing battle, a real slap fest, a total crackup...you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll run screaming out of the room! Opening soon in abandoned theaters near you. See it! |
You asked for it..

A classic! Maybe it's something we can copy for our campaign? _________________ Random is who random does... |

I suppose I did at that.
It's been a while since I watch KKfOS. It reminds me that in one of the Call of Cthulhu supplements (Blood Brothers 2 I think) there is a one-shot scenario where the players confront a group of killer clowns. The Blood Brothers scenarios feature pre-created characters who are really in a B-movie genre film. My players still talk about the Mexican masked wrestling movie scenario: EL TIGRE y la piramede de Destruccion. |

I kind of gave up on the 'one roll per power' idea.
Id have to redo the whole system and every power, and frankly its not worth it. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

I think you are right, unless someone already did a one-roll-system that's in use. But converting characters and powers might be a hassle. In my opinion the only thing weighting against the current system is calculating maps. _________________ Random is who random does... |

I tend to agree. It's why I go with either
1) only counting the MAPs against force skills; i.e. you can chew gum and Affect Mind at the same time, but you maybe can't Affect Mind with both Danger Sense and Life Sense up at the same time or
2) only counting 1 MAP per power not per ability so Affect Mind or LS Combat count as only 1 action not 3 or 2 respectively. |

Yes, it's hard enough to calculate probability with only counting maps by the power. The maps thing is really slowing the Jedi down in real time game play. "should I do this... how many maps are that... or this and how many maps are that..." _________________ Random is who random does... |

And while I don't mind a Jedi who is doing too many things to fail at say TK or Affect Mind; the prospect of having them trip and fall down over their own feet seems a bit uncinematic. |

I guess I should let everyone know how my one roll variant works out in play. |

Yeah, there is a big difference between what looks good in theory and how someplay actually plays out.
I7ve got a couple of things I want to play test with my group, but I've been waiting for the jedi PC to become experienced enough (both in terms of the player and the character skill scores) to try them. But before I get the guy trying out variants, I want to have him grounded in the RAW.
I should be able to test this and a couple of lightsaber dueling variants soon. |

None, I dont want to use another system. If I cant remake the current system (keeping it simple is the trick) Ill keep it as it is (perhaps a tweak or two). _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

But remember that I have freed you from the total mess of combat maps Jedis suffer (when having an activated LSC) by the RAW. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |
