Honestly, WEG probably low-balled Death Star-Scale. Even with a +24D Scale Modifier, the only two Death Star-Scale stats in the RAW had Hulls of 15D and 18D, which total up to 39D and 42D Character-Scale, respectively. If the goal was to put stats in a manageable range (as though there would actually be combat at the Death Star-Scale anyway), Death Star-Scale should've been in the +36D Range, with the Hulls on the DSI and DSII downgraded to 3D and 6D respectively.

Do I sense another update to your scale system?

Probably not. What's the odds of Death Star-Scale combat actually occurring?

It's in between Death Star and Starkiller scale. Duper-scale!

I'm gonna put "Duper" scale at 50D. It just feels right to me. Then Starkiller scale would be 100D. I think +100D should be planetary right? Things like Galactus, Ego, Unicron...

BUT still fun!

I remember that thread now, and some of my comments.... I still think, knocking it down to only 5% of it's weaponry, and making it a massive colony ship is still worthy.

That's just evil: a 280km long ship that has a Class 1 hyperdrive, 25,600 lasers and ion cannons, 50 garrison bases AND has a hangar big enough to carry an Executor-class Super Star Destroyer?

The only thing missing is some sort of exhaust port that can allow it to be destroyed from a single torpedo. Or maybe ten exhaust ports. Razz Rolling Eyes

That's nearly the length of Maine.

They already had a planet that can destroy entire star systems from across the galaxy, faster than light. How are they going to out-epic the Starkiller in Episode IX?

Quote:

Super Duper Death Star Destroyer?

I don't know where this art came from but I feared it was concept art for Episode IX. However a super duper death star destroyer that launches star destroyers like fighters is still peanuts to the Starkiller.

That's not my concern, it's the long commute to your duty shift in the morning that bothers me. And there's not even a Starbucks on the way.

Sorry, if this is Maine, then there's not even a Tim Horton's and a bottle of Moxie along the way.

Estimates put the Death Star II at 900 kilometers. I can only imagine it was equipped with an internal network of commuter trains. And never mind a VIP Shuttle, high-ranking officers probably had their own VIP elevator cars coded for priority routing.

Ever since watching the end of Rebels, I have a bad feeling about Ezra and Thrawn leaving into hyperspace for parts unknown. A feeling that they went to the Unknown Regions where the Chiss and the First Order are from. Thrawn could join the First Order (that part could be cool). But Ashoka and Sabine taking off to look for Ezra could mean that Sabine and Ezra are Rey's parents, and that they plus Ashoka may be in Episode IX. I'm seriously worried that with the way Rebels ended, they are going to bring a bunch of animation canon into live-action Star Wars, resulting in a further "dumbing down" of the sequels. I have a bad feeling about this.

Heard an interesting remark in a Geeks & Gamers video on YouTube.

To keep this on topic, the main subject of the video was that Episode IX's place in the timeline is now set one year after the end of TLJ. The commenter - who is clearly not a fan of the new trilogy - then uses this to segue into a critique of the new SWU that I have felt, yet been unable to put into words until I heard someone else say it.

The new SWU feels small.

With the OT and the prequels, there was always the sense that, even if the action seen on screen was occuring in a small portion of the galaxy, it never lost the feel that it was part of a much larger universe. But the combined effect of the new films seems to have, in some ineffable way, lost that sense. Whether it's allowing ships to travel across the galaxy and back in a matter of hours, or allowing the entire Resistance to be fit into the cargo bay of the Millennium Falcon, or the "I can see Hosnian Prime from my house" trope, the Star Wars Universe just does not feel as big as it used to.

Thoughts?
