Ever since I saw the crossguard, I couldn't help but think of the lightsaber version of THIS kind of crossguard attack:



... and it ending poorly.

Well there are two things to take into account and I really think they should be addressed separately, the hilt and the blade.

The hilt has traditionally been called the crossguard lightsaber and there is a conversion of that from Saga giving a bonus to melee parrying and a penalty to ranged parries. As for the blade sticking they are plasma blades contained in a magnetic field so you can work with that. I suppose that two lightsabers could lock by making it the result of a failed disarm attempt.

The next is the unstable blade which is produced by a cracked crystal.
